Whisky Dining WWW.W — Restaurant in Osaka

(copying my review I wrote for dining at Suntory Whiskey House, since I’m not sure which is the right place on Google maps to have put this!)

Wonderful experience and highly recommended to try out some Japanese whiskeys (disclaimer: I am a novice to whiskies, so this is not from the perspective of a whiskey connoisseur!). Very conveniently located, unlike the Suntory Yamazaki distillery. Got there within an hour after opening and was able to get a table without reservation, but the place was already very busy and was shortly packed full. Seemingly attracts a lot of business people or work outings, and interestingly no other foreigners there at the time we visited. But the menu had English and staff were able to communicate in English if needed as well.

The main Japanese whiskey tasking is ¥2400 which I thought was a good price for the experience and environment. They had a "classic" whiskey tasting for under ¥2000 as well. Service was fantastic, and matched that of a higher end restaurant.

Yes, the food cost is on the higher side. But considering the affordability of the drink tasting in my eyes, this was not a sore point for me. We ordered a few small dishes to share. I do recommend trying the beef katsu sandwich! Looks and tastes great.

Overall: 4.5 Food: 4.0 Their beverage menu has the Suntory whiskey’s you’re probably looking for. They have multiple types of flights which was fantastic for trying most of Suntory’s whiskies without buying every bottle. Most of their appetizers and main are consistently high quality, come out quick and pair well with the drinks. Their seasonal favorites are worth trying especially their seasonal rice cooked over a sterno, which helps with soaking up the alcohol. I do think the portions are small especially the small appetizer bites. The flavors of the entrees like the fried rice or fries are nothing unique or new , but it’s consistently done well. Design/Ambience: 5.0 The best part is walking through the timeline of Suntory drinks, reading about the history, looking at rare bottles and then ending at the restaurant. Within the mini museum area, they have sell furniture made from their casks. Service: 5.0 Timely, kind and efficient. Our server knew a bit of English which helped.
