Atmosphere and interior design is cosy, sleek and comfortable in both bar and table settings

I ordered the Croissant open face sandwich set for lunch. It was so good I ate it all before remembering to take a photo!

The selection of alcohol products is second to none in the area of Otaru. All japanese alcohol and local Hokkaido favourites such as Nikka whiskey from yoichi, Sapporo classic on tap and exclusive Otaru bottled beer. The coffee beans are also specialized locales sourced otaru roast by chaff.

What more can I say? This should be the number 1 on your list of restaurants to check...

We came for dinner visiting Otaru for the long weekend - so not sure about rooms (if there were any). The staff & room were both excellent, accommodating a vegetarian pizza option where requested as well. As a family of four, we did order a variety of things - the pastas , pizza, salad & potato gratin & parfait dessert was excellent - as was the hot wine! Just the right amount of sweet. Beautiful old grain warehouse turned into a cafe and hostel. It was the perfect place to duck in on a cool day to warm up with coffee and some cake.

The inside of the cafe is both modern but highlights the history of the building and the area.

The coffee was great. We had a salmon croissant and chocolate cake- both were excellent. We came during cafe hours but they also serve dinner and offer take out.

The owner speaks very good English and has a great vision for his business. Hopefully, international tourism will return to Otaru and the hostel will be hard...
