I have visited this place twice: once for dinner about 10 years ago and once for lunch recently.
From what I remember, the dinner was good, offering a wide selection of Russian dishes with decent taste.
However, the lunch experience was the complete opposite; it was very disappointing. The portions were small, the prices high (lunch sets ranged from 1,300 to 2,100 yen), and the overall taste was just average. Given what they charge, you can definitely find much better lunch options elsewhere in Roppongi, where this restaurant is located.
The service was not impressive either. When we asked for separate bills, the waitress seemed very annoyed. It certainly did not meet the service standards I would expect in Japan, but it was very close to what you might experience in Russia, if you get my drift.
The restaurant’s atmosphere was good, and the decorations were nice.
It's really a pity to say this, because I remembered this place as a good Russian restaurant in Tokyo back then and recommended it to many of my Japanese friends and colleagues. But after my recent experience, I probably can't...
Read moreA good, authentic Russian 🇷🇺 restaurant with Russian staff and a Russian chef. The decor is styled to clearly show that it’s a “Russian restaurant” — with traditional-looking decorations and such. In reality, you wouldn’t find a place like this in Russia, but for Japanese and other foreign visitors, it probably creates the right impression.
The food was very tasty, though definitely adapted for Japanese customers — especially when beef stroganoff comes served with rice.
The only downside is that if you want something from the main menu, they won’t serve it untill 4 or 5 pm. Only the lunch menu is available. We managed to convince them to make a few items from the main menu, but for example, we weren’t able to order any pelmeni 🥟 for example, which I honestly don’t understand — they’re frozen and just need to be boiled.
Still, as someone who enjoys this type of cuisine, I can definitely recommend visiting this restaurant! Prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the central...
Read moreProbably the best quality Russian restaurant I've been to in Tokyo. Staff are Russian and thus the service is not the Japanese standard, but will definitely give you the authentic experience. They do speak Japanese, menu is in Rus/Jpn/Eng. Food is phenomenal. Everything tastes amazing and more than worth the price. I love their blini with ikra, especially since the ikra isn't oversalted. Hot plates will take time to come out, so prepare to wait a bit. They offer some Russian beer and Kvass during the summer. Been here three times with various friends from different countries and everyone...
