Bubby's Shiodome — Restaurant in Tokyo

The food was good especially if you haven't had american food in a while after being in Japan! The fried chicken was fresh and fried crispy however it wasn't seasoned enough but if you put syrup and tabasco on it, it's amazing! Their fried pickles, cajun fries, and pulled pork sandwich is good as well. My only critique is that the service was awkward at times. I'm not sure if the guy was new but he would walk up to our table so close as if he was about to say something so we'd all pause to see what he needed, just for him to scan our table for empty plates and walk away. He was really nice but the pauses were awkward, he could at least say something like how's the food, etc. so hes not just standing at the edge of our table then leaving constantly. Then later on he and a lady came to our table with our main entrees and when I tried to hand her an empty plate since she was standing closest to my seat, she would not take it and told me I give it to the guy and walked away. As a customer, we are not involved in your training and felt awkward like we were being trained instead of served. You are both restaurant staff to us, are you too good to take away our plate? Other than those odd moments I liked the food and would eat...

Went for the Thanksgiving plate. We started at the Roppongi location but they were out of several items on the plate so we moved to the Shiodome location. We were seated quickly, after we arrived. The staff were accommodating. Overall, the meal was ok. The plate came with a portion of turkey, a portion of roast pork, mashed yams, braised carrots, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, and a biscuit. There wasn't enough gravy, so we each asked for an extra portion. The turkey was dry without the gravy. The gravy was flavorful. The roast pork was better than the turkey. The mashed yams were very sweet. The braised carrots were tender and a little sweet. The brussel sprouts were sautéed with bacon; very nicely prepared. The cranberry sauce was too tart. The biscuit was better than expected. It was buttery and moist. We also ordered mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. The potatoes were too watery causing the gravy to lose it's flavor. Disappointing. The mac n cheese was pretty ok. It was cooked with bacon. The pumpkin pie was really nice. Definitely going back...

I used to like Bubbys but the more often I visit here the less I like it. My last visit ( 5/20/18 ) I had a spicy cheese burger which was a special on their brunch menu. It came with fries and a pickle. First off the burger was not spicy but was in fact very bland. Also I really don't care for their fries. I am pretty sure they are sweet potato fries. The set cost about $18 which for the taste is way over priced. I can go to shake shack for a much better cheese burger for less money. Also the service there has always been very poor. I would give zero stars if Google allowed it but the desserts are actually pretty good. If you want to visit I suggest coming for pie and coffee and avoid the rest...
