Coco Nemaru in Ginza offers an unforgettable culinary experience, where you can expect top-tier Japanese Wagyu from Mogami Wagyu farm in Yamagata Prefecture. It was hands down some of the best beef I’ve ever tasted. Right from the start, they set the stage with a generous piece of fat to season the grill, filling the air with the rich aroma of Wagyu and making our mouths water instantly.

We ordered two different set plates to try a variety of cuts and fully experience the range of meats. The marbling alone shows the incredible care that goes into raising these cattle. With small dishes of salt, lemon, and sweet soy on the side, we were ready for the main event, cooking each piece ourselves. For certain delicate cuts, the staff would prepare them tableside, adding to the refined dining experience.

Each slice only needed a few seconds on each side. The moment it touched my tongue, the meat melted with a buttery, silky texture and an almost caramelized richness that’s hard to describe. It was delicate yet deeply flavorful, with layers of umami that made every bite heavenly. A touch of salt or a dab of fresh wasabi from our tray brought out even more complexity—I think we were all fighting over the last bit of wasabi! The attentive and kind staff helped make this a perfect fine dining experience, one that I’ll remember for a long time.

We don’t typically leave reviews, but felt this one needed to be shared to avoid any negative experiences. It was our last night in Tokyo, so we were really looking forward to this dinner, especially given the restaurant’s positive reviews and strong social media presence. The photos looked amazing and had heard nothing but good things. Unfortunately, after spending over 30,000 yen, we were left feeling really disappointed.

The meal was not at all what we had hoped for. We paid a 10% service fee with the expectation that the steak would be cooked for us, and were told not to touch it. However, it was pretty clear that our table had been forgotten. It wasn’t until our steak started to catch fire that anyone attended. For a 10% service fee, we were very disappointed. The steak was cooked medium-well, and well-done through most of it, and it was clear the staff knew it was overcooked, yet there was no apology or even acknowledgement that it happened. We actually felt they avoided us after serving the meal.

Having worked in hospitality in the past, we chose not to complain. We felt so disappointed we wanted to leave as soon as possible. We’ve had steaks much better, and sadly, this was by far our worst experience we...

Saw this on social media then researched and had great reviews and booked weeks in advance.Just spent 10days in Japan and our only bad experience.

Granted we were 7mins passed our reservation for a semi empty place on Sunday 8:15pm. Sat down and no one greeted or gave us water or asked us anything for 12mins. Called over the server, who seemed like she started that day, and just stared at us. Understand if we can’t communicate but this was just mute. We asked through google translate to help or recommend and nothing 😂 Then she left and we had to wait another 5mins to call someone over to get the wrong drink. Finally had to ask for someone else and finally ordered, since I heard the food was good.

My husband, who hates complaining at establishments, had to ask for a manager to ask if we offended his staff(through google translate). He just shrugged. Staff was in the back cleaning the whole time.

Thankfully the quality of the meat is great. Otherwise I would’ve walked out multiple times even after spending over 30,000yen and still never getting any water. Such a shame for such great quality of ingredients.

It wasn’t bad service. There was none. Hopefully if you go, you go when the...
