"Japan doesn't do breakfast" is a misnomer. "toast sets" are a common way to grab a light breakfast in Japanese cities. Perhaps most famous in Nagoya you can still find similar types of restaurants in other cities.

This restaurant nails everything I want from a "toast set" experience. It's cheap, peaceful, non-pretentious, simple and delicious.

Sets are served with tea or coffee and a piece of thick butter toast. you can add honey, cinnamon, etc and sides like a small salad and a boiled egg. The toast is really good, simple but has a wonderful texture.

the atmosphere is sort of a retro styled place old folks come to, maybe looks a little dingy but has a veneer of charm to it. Old books and stuff are abound.

Staff is fine, and they have an English menu. Appears to be non-smoking.

Get the honey btw, it's really sharp and delicious.

Coffee Katsura is a must-visit coffee shop for anyone looking for an exceptional coffee and breakfast experience. The lovely staff is welcoming and attentive, making you feel at home right away. The coffee is fantastic, with a bold and robust flavor that will awaken your taste buds. The toasts are also exceptional, with a crispy texture on the outside and soft on the inside, served with a variety of delicious spreads that complement the coffee perfectly. #toast 509 — casual, expected and a nice spot with nice deals and fresh bread. their bread is really soft and warm upon being served and I genuinely really enjoyed the intimacy of the whole cafe space. It’s a bit small and packed but you can get a sense of the people that like to come here by listening to the conversations whether it is the nearby regulars that come during their lunch breaks or people that come during their lunch breaks while being at work.

I would’ve wished to try their coffee if it wasn’t the case that I had a few cups already in the morning.

There was only one waiter and one cook in the shop and the waiter was very busy. The coffee was only regular, no cappuccino or anything like that, it tasted good. The pasta and omelette tasted good too, and there were all kinds of small decorations in the shop, so the atmosphere was very good, we were Chinese, and there were French and Italians also dining. But it closed at 19:00 sharp, so I couldn't continue to talk about things, so I changed the shop. This is the only regret, I wish it was open until 20:00, so I could have dinner and talk about business. 店里只有一个服务员和一个厨师，服务员非常忙。咖啡只有普通的，没有卡布奇诺咖啡之类的咖啡，味道不错。意大利面、蛋包饭味道也都不错，店里有各种小的装饰品，氛围感很好，我们是中国人，有法国人和意大利人也在就餐。但是19点准时关门，没法继续谈事情了，就换了一家店。这是唯一遗憾的地方，希望开到20点，可以吃晚饭的时间顺便谈谈业务。 店にはウェイターとシェフが一人ずつしかおらず、ウェイターはとても忙しそうだった。 コーヒーはレギュラーのみで、カプチーノコーヒーとかはなかった、味は良かった。 パスタやオムレツもおいしかったし、店内にはいろいろな小物が飾られていて、雰囲気はとてもよかった。私たちは中国人だったが、フランス人やイタリア人も食事をしていた。 でも19時ジャストに閉まってしまうので、いろいろ話を続けるわけにもいかず、店を変えた。 これが唯一の心残りで、20時まで営業していればディナータイムに仕事の話ができたのにと思う。 Il n'y avait qu'un serveur et un cuisinier dans le magasin et le serveur était très occupé. Le café était normal, pas de cappuccino ou autre, mais il était bon. Les pâtes et l'omelette étaient bonnes aussi, et il y avait toutes sortes de petites décorations dans le magasin, donc l'atmosphère était très bonne, nous étions Chinois, et il y avait aussi des Français et des Italiens qui dînaient. Mais le magasin a fermé à 19 heures précises, je ne pouvais pas continuer à parler de choses et d'autres, alors j'ai changé de magasin. C'est mon seul regret, j'aurais aimé qu'il soit ouvert jusqu'à 20 heures, pour pouvoir dîner et parler affaires.
