The restaurant is located in a quiet, residential area and is in a small hut that feels a bit like an extension to a house. The restaurant is very small and only seats around 6 customers around a big counter table. When I arrived with my friend, despite it being a Saturday night, there were no other customers and 1 staff member. We ordered the keema curry and the pork belly curry to share. The portions were not too big, average for Japan. The taste of the curries had a good depth of deliciousness, and it was not too spicy. The pork belly was also tender and delicious. Despite us being the only customer there, the staff seemed a bit cold towards us, and soon after we finished eating, we felt rushed to leave as he asked us to settle the bill. They do have a toilet that is beneath the stairs of the main house, which is one of the smallest toilets that I have seen. You will need to almost stay crouched inside the toilet. Overall, although the curry was delicious, the atmosphere and ambience of the place were not too pleasant, so I would only recommend it if you were...
Read moreWhat an excellent local curry place! Small counter, very friendly chef, absolutely great outdoor camp vibes.
We really enjoyed the curry, it was SO well flavored, we actually ended up buying the curry roux they sell to make at home ourselves. It was more savory for Japanese curry, we got the pork curry and craft curry, and it was ever so lightly spicy as an aftertaste. I have a nut allergy as well, and they were so kind letting me translate the ingredients in the roux to make sure I could eat it. If you have a nut allergy, the butter chicken curry is a no go, and such a shame since the pork curry was so very delicious! I would absolutely go back if I had more time here to try the tomato curry.
It was a great meal for a great cost, probably about $25 per person(one curry, two drinks,) before the shirt and roux we also bought there. Can't recommend more, it was in a residential area tucked away, and worth the little maze...
Read moreAwesome little spot for unique curry dishes. I'm so glad I found this place on Google Maps. It's located in the middle of a residential area, but following the maps got me there easily.
There is no English menu and the owner does not really speak English either, so definitely recommend coming here with someone who knows Japanese. To be honest even if you're foreign and don't know anyone, it's worth the trouble and embarrassment of using a translation app to try their curry. I came with someone who knew some Japanese and the owner was very patient and kind to us when ordering. He even initiated small talk to make us more comfortable and I really appreciated that.
I got the kareem curry (first item on menu) and added egg, cheese, and spinach toppings. The flavor of the curry is perfect and I really can't think of anything I'd want to improve. We also got a craft beer and it went well...
