Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY AT THE GOLDEN SAUCER ROOM!!! Disappointing beyond measure to be honest, having LOVED visiting their other themed cafes. We came in, with half of the tv’s off displaying flashing lights. The room is very clearly a karaoke room that was redecorated to be this room, which wouldn’t be an issue if they didn’t keep the same beat up table and couches that do not match the theme at all. Finally, front staff was rude and yelled at us for getting there 15 minutes early. The crazy thing is, last time I was here for the cafe— they told us we had to be early even if we had a reservation! We didn’t ask for the room, just wanted to let them know we were here…
This was such a disappointing experience that I cancelled my future reservation tonight to the FFXIV cafe. If you haven’t been to it, it’s wonderful and fun, and they charge you LESS to go to it despite being much better themed. At the very least, if you’re gonna shoddily retheme a karaoke room to final fantasy… let us do karaoke!!!! Ridiculous genuinely cannot get over how ridiculous for a more costly experience.
UPDATE: Holy shit! Just lowered it to a one. I usually don’t do this, but you have to pay at the front desk so I decided to complain. First and foremost, when we asked to pay, the woman at the front yelled at us telling us where the laminator was, then refused to actually check us out. We had to wait 10 minutes until she finally understood we wanted to PAY OUR BILL. Then, when we asked for a manager (bc wtf?) she refused to bring one, instead being super confrontational and calling down another employee to translate for her. When we explained all this, she proceeded to gaslight and mock us in Japanese (as I was trying to translate what she was saying via app and was able to make out that she was talking about how clueless we were). She told us that it wasn’t their problem, “it’s Japan so it’s hot”, and that all of the tvs were off because of the breaker. Nothing was explained to us when we went in. All other staff we interacted with were nice. I have gone to this cafe before and was genuinely in shock by how cruel and rude this woman was. I think she didn’t want to deal with us because we didn’t speak Japanese. I will be heavily NOT recommending this experience for foreign audiences in the...
Read moreThis is probably the first theme cafe in Japan that turned out to be a complete waste of my money and time. While the booking system appeared to be efficient, the actual experience at the place was extremely disappointing.
Upon entering the cafe, I immediately noticed that the menu was nothing special. It mainly consisted of sugar drinks and lacked any creative or unique options. The theme decoration was low-budget and unimpressive, adding to the overall lackluster atmosphere of the place.
Additionally, the cafe was small and incredibly stuffy, making it quite uncomfortable to enjoy my time there. It seemed as though the place had put little effort into creating a pleasant environment for their guests. Rather than feeling immersed in the theme, I felt trapped in a tourist trap geared towards fans of whatever theme the cafe was attempting to portray.
Although the staff members were friendly and provided clear information in English, this did little to improve my overall experience. The frustration and feeling of wasted time lingered throughout my visit. To make matters worse, the chocopo bun that my companions and I ordered took an excruciatingly long time to arrive, and when it did, it was cold on the outside and hot on the inside. It was obvious that the bun had been sitting in a steamer for far too long, resulting in a bland and disappointing taste.
Overall, I cannot stress enough how much of a letdown this theme cafe was. From the lackluster menu to the slow service and uncomfortable atmosphere, it was a complete waste of both money and time. I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking an enjoyable and memorable cafe experience.
P/s: you will get compliment dining mat (paper), which can laminate at L1 for 200 Yen. A good quality coaster per person and a surprise...
Read moreIf not for the amazing setting, this place wouldn't really have earned a single star from me. For the good, the theming is exceptional. Legitimately amazing theming that had me geeking out the entire visit.
For the bad... there is a laundry list of things. So in no particular order:
Drink portions are small (and have no refills, as is customary in Japan). They are a joke of a product meant to milk fans.
They will make zero alterations to food. This includes removing anything. It's beyond unreasonable to refuse to just not put onions in something. This isn't a $100+ Michelin restaurant. Their inflexibility is extreme.
Speaking of the quality of food, it is lackluster, being nice. The meat cuts on the meat board were cheaper than the ones I use to make steak and similar things at home. My boyfriend was beyond unimpressed by the curry, which takes a special talent.
The server felt... less than attentive. You had to specifically request him to your table or he would completely ignore us. He gave the table beside us a placemat to laminate, but when I asked about it, he claimed they didn't do that. The laminator downstairs explicitly references that placemats can be laminated and had an example FFXIV one ON THE LAMINATOR TABLE.
The merch was overpriced and underwhelming. There wasn't a single thing available for purchase for my two most played classes: DRK and WHM.
All in all... my recommendation? Look at the pictures online and save your money. The service isn't good. The availability of popular merch is basically nil. The quality of food is low for the price and cannot take even the tiniest level of variance.
Do not go here....
