i rarely leave bad reviews but this place was unfortunately one of the worst cafes that i have ever been to. the food, service and overall setup were all disappointing.
to start, i wouldn't consider it a proper cafe. this place is attached to a hotel and i had the feeling that it was set up only because they had an extra room in the building. the "cafe room" and the reception is separate, with the tables being set up in a separate room. the decor in the room is questionable with the clash between chandeliers and colourful chairs. however the worst part was the music, which was loud and not relaxing, and the multiple TVs that were repeatedly playing the introduction video to this cafe (which i found unnecessary, the information is common sense, and we are all adults here).
we had two drinks and these were undoubtedly some of the most disappointing drinks that i have had in japan. it felt like they were poured from a packaged box drink and in particular the cocoa tasted like nothing. on the menu, there were a large number of options that were not available. and to make matters worse, the staff charged us the wrong amount and we had to go through the refund procedure.
i saw the large amounts of positive reviews that this place had but i personally did not enjoy anything about this spot other than the free wifi. we left soon after arriving. i think there is a lot to be improved on...
Read moreThe waiter was quite rude, and I also don't recommend the honey toast.
The tall male waiter was quite possibly the first rude staff member I've met after spending a total of 6 months and half in Japan. I got the feeling he didn't really care about us since he was very curt despite us using Japanese. My wife, who doesn't speak Japanese, also picked up on this purely off the tone of his voice and body language, as it was very different compared to all of our previous interactions with staff regardless of prefecture and even industry. Even by American service standards, it was pretty bad.
In regards to the Honey Toast, maybe I don't understand honey toast, but once you get past the whipped cream on top, there's just 6 layers of.. plain toasted bread? The bread itself was good, but it's just huge chunks of it that have been hardened up in the oven.
None of the sauce toppings you order are put onto the inner bread pieces, they're all on the side (including any ice cream toppings you order). For some, this may be preferable, but having sauces on the bread pieces would have given them some much needed flavor.
If you prefer honey toast prepared like the above, this would be a good place for you. I can't guarantee the staff will be...
Read moreOk this is a truly honest review. I feel like 3 stars is a little generous but my friend and I couldn’t get over the insane mix of themes this cafe has, along with the customer service..we couldn’t stop laughing. Honestly though, the waiter we had today seemed as if he had the weight of the world on his shoulders (it was so quiet when we were there). He looked as if he’d want to be anywhere else but here, he said as little as possible and was very nonchalant towards us, giving the impression that we were cattle to be fed.
The mixture of aggressive country music blasting in the background along with the worst coffee we’ve ever had paired quite nicely with the chandeliers and red velvet curtains. We can’t forget the low quality projector showing the same video of three people who failed acting school, play the tambourine whilst visiting a random karaoke bar.
The Honey Toast was what we expected. Make of that what you will.
If you’re after an interesting experience, we’d recommend I guess? The place next door looks more like a pleasant time if you’re seeking a calm atmosphere. you have to be a certain type of person to find the humour in this cafe, but if that’s you, come for...
