Meal: Lunch Day Visited: Saturday Budget: ¥2,000 Closest Station: Roppongi Reservation Needed?: No Payment: Cash; Credit; E-Payment Kid Friendly?: Yes English Menu?: Yes I’m a big believer in promoting good Mexican food restaurants in Japan. We don’t have enough of this wonderful style of food in this country! Unfortunately, I found my Classic Chicken Burrito and beef tacos to be fairly average (perhaps decent for Mexican food in Japan, but a bit disappointing). On the good side, the portions are generous. One grande burrito is more than enough for a hungry person (think Chipotle-sized burrito!). Impressive. Prices were also ok, particularly when you consider the location. Service was quick, if not super engaging. On the “needs improvement” side, my burrito was poorly constructed, collapsing after one bite and very difficult to eat. The green salsa - normally lush with flavor - was bland, as were the proteins. The seasoning, overall needs work. I can understand toning down the flavors a bit for the Japanese pallet, I just didn’t feel like either of my dishes had much flavor at all. Needs some work, but there is potential here.

TLDR; go somewhere else. Size- their largest size is just your average burrito, they shouldn’t even sell the smaller sizes. Taste- super mid, tastes like most fake Mexican food here in Japan. The sour cream is literally yogurt and the salsa is more like a tomato mash. They charge ¥2,000 for a “grande” burrito that tastes okay. You can get an excellent multi course meal in Japan for that much, so this is way over priced. Not to mention they charge extra for guacamole. I get that a norm now because of chipotle, but you can’t charge way too much for a burrito AND extra for guacamole. Pick one. Many places in Mexico and the states give free guacamole and free chips— and their food actually tastes good. It’s an easy fix: Charge ¥1,500 for a grande and include guacamole and chips.

Guy at the counter flat out rude. Maybe he's tired of tourists? I wanted a vegetarian burrito, guacamole beans cheese lettuce and the guy making it was giving me a hard time about more beans even though I didn't want rice. He gave me a hard time about the salsa. The menu says you can order 4 orders of salsa and he only wanted to give me 2. It's just weird! Can I have more beans? No, it's not allowed! The little 200yen bag of chips was also stale. Almost tastes like Mexican food so that was nice. I had a negative experience at another branch a few years ago too so I will probably avoid it in the future.

Don't listen to non-traveled idiots here comparing this restaurant to "Chipotle" or "Moe's." I've been to both. Chipotle 4 times over 15 years in 2 cities. 4 times was enough of their supersaturated dried seasoning garbage flavors even split between 2 cities and 15 years. I recently went to Cozumel And spent 5 night at Intercontinental hotel and didn't have a soft pork taco this good IN MEXICO!

Although, I live in tokyo, and have only been to this roppongi location twice, and only eaten the same pork soft taco, it's been oustanding both times. I've eaten Cali Mex food in LA before. Do you like a pound of salt? That's maybe just one aspect of what peolpe are basing their reviews on here and Yelp. These people think American Tex-Mex Chipotle is the only one. I'm American and those place are garbage. Half of these people probably never truly had fresh food without dried seasoning. Giving only 4 stars because of the social pressure to follow the herd and be modest given most people give it 3 stars. Otherwise, it's at least 4 if you eat what I ate.

Note. I rarely login or create an account to make a review anywhere, even when spectacular. Ive traveled to many nice places throughout the world. But these reviews of people whom probably never had traveled outside Chipotle, much less America, don't have a clue and angered me enough to respond. This restaurant is at least 4 stars if you only eat what I ate. Their margheritas are pretty decent too. Not sugared-up like Tex-mex...

We were really wanting some Mexican food reminiscent of home on the tail-end of our vacation on a day we happened to be in Roppongi and found this place online. I’m so happy we came across it! It is similar to Chipotle in both the food they offer and the pick toppings/build your bowl or burrito down the line style. Both my husband and I got a premade option and my husband was able to modify it to remove sour cream. I wouldn’t come in expecting the food to be packed with a million artificially enhanced flavors/copious amounts of sodium like Chipotle - that is their whole thing here is serving healthy options without chemical additives and lots of sodium. I will absolutely say, they do not compromise on flavor - we found the flavor to be so fresh and delicious, the guacamole was , dare I say, the freshest guac I’ve ever had and I even prefer it over Chipotle and other fast food/dine-in option guac back in the US. The staff was very pleasant and we were able to come right in and order and received our food super quickly. I will say, if you’re used to US-size portions the sizing seems significantly smaller specifically here I know this is common from US Japan so that is more so just a heads-up that opting for the bigger burrito bowl is likely a good move. We will definitely be returning next time we are back...

I felt the ordering system here is a bit confusing and one person ordering for everyone at the table would possibly create a mess. They have an assembly line sort of a system. When I tried to order for both my friend and myself, it got confusing for me although we had only two items. We had ordered a chicken burrito, vegan/vegetarian tacos and plain nachos. Nachos are not made at the assembly area so that was easy. For the veggie tacos, the person making it, skipped step 1. Beans, rice etc and when I asked if she would put them she possibly said something along the lines of they don't put beans in Tacos. The menu did not clearly state that.

The veggie tacos had just mashed avocados as the base ingredient and rest all was just sauces and cheese. The covering was undercooked tortilla, and the tacos were cold and very bland. None of the sauces were flavourful. My friend didn't like their chicken burrito either. They said the chicken was not seasoned at all. Both the items would have tasted a tad bit better had the tortilla been toasted lightly. The nachos were basic too.

The price did not justify the quality of the food. Around 3000 yen for three items.

The seating area is quite congested too.

Some of the staff was kind and polite.

However, I would not recommend this place if you're looking for...
