I took a girlfriend there for her birthday on Friday night. We were offered the ladies set which was a drink , a samosa , a curry, a naan and a dessert for 1980 yen. We went for this option each and added a few extras . The taste was good but 2 tiny little pieces of chicken and 2 tiny prawns in the other. Im guessing because we are ladies we only need a tiny piece of meat, right ? Basically we paid around $26 au each for bread , gravy and a poor quality red wine which would've cost them about $4 without any of the extras we had to order as we were still hungry ! During the meal a group of 5 waiters just kept swarming around us making us feel like we were being rushed. During our first course they appeared with our ice cream . We couldnt understand it as it was clear we still had half our meal. We asked them to take the ice cream back until we were ready and they reluctantly walked off with it and no apology was given. This was within 20 mins of us sitting down.. Another waiter then approached us 2 minutes later and asked us how we would be paying either by cash or card. This was outrageous. They directed the question at my friend who we had already explained was celebrating her birthday. We went there at 9pm. They close at 11pm. There were only 14 people in the restaurant and from the start they were rushing us. When the icecream came back out it was clear it had just gone into the freezer in the same bowl and bought back out. It was a 40 minute turnaround for us in that awful place when it should've been a relaxing calm experience. They clearly wanted an early night at least an hour earlier than the restaurant closed. What a disgrace Moti ,...
Read morePerhaps one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Tokyo. The good: The restaurant atmosphere is nice and staff are (usually) friendly and professional. The menu has a refreshing variety for usual Indian menus you would get in Tokyo, and there are items from Hyderabad and South India (my personal favorites). The bad: The briyani, which in my opinion is the baramoeter of how good an Indian restaurant is, is very average. The mutton meat is usually very dry and in small pieces, obviously not fresh. The spicing and flavoring of the rice is also very mild (no cilantro or fried onion or a tad of cinnamon) and doesn't have the magical spice combination a briyani should have. They do make a big fuss about not accepting credit card which is weird and unacceptable for a restaurant that size, in that location and with those prices. Ideally after having a meal and when you're about to pay, you would want a more relaxing experience than arguing back and forth with the staff on the payment method. Overall, cost-performance of motti in my opinion is something like a 3.5, but I'll give them a 4 because it's still one of the 5 Indian restaurants in Tokyo I...

My Tandoori Chicken was super dry and had the texture of badly overcooked meat or leftover cooked meat from a previous day. The flavors were delicious, but texture unpalatable and virtually inedible. It was plated beautifully, too bad my eyes weren't eating it.
The Garlic Naan Bread was freshly baked and moist on the inside with a light crunch on the outside, but the garlic chunks were painfully bitter...so bitter that I could barely eat any of the bread...such a waste. It was huge and very visually appealing... Next time plain Naan Bread for me.
However my friend enjoyed her Saag Chicken with Japanese rice.
I should have walked out when I saw how empty the restaurant was...we were the only customers at 7pm. Suffice it to say, I will...
