Matsuzaka Beef Cheese Burger 🇯🇵🐄🧀🍔@zero_toranomon
Located a few minutes walk from Toranomon station, this hamburger restaurant opened in April 2021 and is one of very few burger joints in this neighbourhood, which is generally dominated by salaryman-friendly Japanese teishoku places and traditional izakaya. 🏮
After 18 months working from home, I visited the office today so finally got the chance to drop in at lunchtime, when there are 5-6 different set menus available - all coming with fries and a drink. 🍔🍟🥤
I went for the Matsuzaka Beef Cheese Burger, and took a seat at the kitchen counter. While waiting, I had a lively conversation with the chef, talking about our favorite burger places in Tokyo and learning more about the history behind the founding of Zero Toranomon. 👨🏻🍳
The owner Keiji Matoba-san (@kematoba) has a long career in luxury washoku, consulting and opening up restaurants focusing on sushi, kappo & wagyu, so is very knowledgeable about Japanese beef. 🎌🐮
While the burger is slightly smaller than most gourmet burger places, what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with taste and quality. 🏅
Buns are individually wrapped just before preparation to keep them fresh & moist before toasting. Sliced cheddar cheese is melted onto the patty before serving. Patty is made from 100% Matsuzaka wagyu beef. The patty is coarsely ground, allowing you to taste thick chunks of wagyu beef, and it is cooked perfectly, dripping with juices and full of umami. 😋
Chopped onions, tomato, lettuce & mayonnaise make up the rest of the burger, and finally the sweet sauce completes it. Each of these elements is quite delicate, adding a freshness & light touch to complement the heavy meat punch of the patty. 🥩🥊
A very simple burger but with high quality ingredients and perfect balance this combines to create an extremely satisfying experience. 💯
Fans of wagyu beef should drop by to give it a try. I was told from next week they will also begin offering new items on the menu (peanut butter was mentioned!) so I am looking forward to trying these next time...
Read moreGenuine cheese burger was so good! After eating sushi, ramen, tonkatsu, and other wonderful Japanese cuisine we needed to break it up a bit and find a burger. Walking around all the food stalls in the Toranomon area we stumbled upon Genuine Burger.
We had the meal - it came with burger, fries and a beer or soda. They ask you how many grams of burger you want - from 10grams to 100grams. Just for perspective 100 grams is two sizeable patties. So if you’re hungry get 100 grams, if not, get a 50 gram burger.
One of the best burgers...
Read moreThe potato is very good... The burger, about true: Terrible... 😵 They say it's wagyu, if it's true they really spoiled the meat... Seems like a craft-style burger, but there is no blend, there is no texture in the ingredients set and the bread crumbled with the extremely runny sauce... The set cost ¥1200~¥1500, but ¥600 would be more than fine paid out! PS: Was my second time there... No more! (Sorry to not...
