Finally a dream became true!! Sorbillo is not just a pizzeria in Naples but is a monumental piece of the city. Their pizza is not just about food, is about emotions. High quality ingredients, the “impasto” (pizza itself) are something that cannot be described by words. I was wondering if bringing an artisanal art as pizza is at the other side of world would change this emotion but after been there I can say: IS REALLY REALLY AWESOME! 👏🏻 They brought a very simple and carefully chosen menu presenting the classic and more modern pizza. Italian beer PERONI NASTRO AZZURRO is also available as limoncello and cocktails. Tiramisu, sfogliatella and Baba are also available as desserts. The pizza size Is the same as in Italy, very thin and soft (yes pizza is this, there are no crispy pizzas in Naples) high quality ingredients from fresh tomato, tomato sauce, mozzarella and local ingredient such as nduja and friarielli. The atmosphere is really beautiful, there is a terrace and the staff is very kind (japanese, english and even italian speaker). If was lucky enough to meet Toto and Gino Sorbillo who were really kind when I asked to take a photo even though they were busy. The temple of pizza finally is in Tokyo!! Grazie mille...
Read moreTo be honest, at very first when Sorbillo opened in Tokyo I was a bit cold and suspicious. Sometime the fame doesn't match the quality and you end up spending more for the name than the food. But Sorbillo Tokyo impressed me favourably. Located at ground floor of a luxury shopping mall in the heart of one of most expensive neighbourhood of Tokyo I was expecting to pay a premium price for an average pizza. But surprisingly pizza was very good. I chosen a Marinara. Dough was soft, fragrant, melting well when biten, letting the aroma of tomato, olive oil and origan spread in the mouth. Flour declared to be organic. If true, simply amazing as the overall pizza price was nothing of extreme at all. To find a defect, Tomato sauce could be improved. Salad was also good, aboundant leaves richly topped by corn, tomatoes and olives dressed with a fresh good tasting condiment. Coffee very good, as a real Napoli restaurant can and should do. Staff also friendly and supportive. Sorbillo might not offer the real best pizza in town but the overall experience put this restaurant on the top list of best pizzeria of Tokyo.
Second time went there whole experience was less good. Maybe different pizzaiolo and...

Being stone baked, with a slight char and high quality ingredients, I could not find a distinctive fault with the pizza, a very great effort indeed.
For 2300 yen, it justified it's price for the quality delivered.
The brushetta however, did not justify its price for the quality. The tomato brushetta was lacking in the tomatoes and other toppings, all being sparsely a scattered onto a fairly measly portion of baguette.
For 880 yen, that is a high price to pay.
For dessert I had a tiramisu and it brought me much joy they did not fall into the trap of dumping too much Mascarpone on the tiramisu which many Italian restaurants fall into.
The sponge was moist and strong, although it was lacking in the "espresso" flavour that is so claimed.
If I were you I'd shed the sides and stick...
