It’s tough to find a good American breakfast in Japan and this place gets it right!
I got the breakfast plate, which was pretty much the equivalent of a Denny’s Grand Slam and I was pretty happy with what I got.
Scrambled eggs: Cooked with plenty of butter! So velvety! They also had options for sunny side up and over easy. Bacon: Had some decent crisp! Not full-on crumbly crispy but definitely not the rubbery sticks you find elsewhere, somewhere in between. I think they hit a good balance. Potatoes: Nothing special tbh. They provide Heinz to go with it tho 👍 Pancakes: I think these had some ricotta cheese in them as they were slightly tangy with a lighter texture than typical buttermilk. It was a nice twist!
Service: Friendly enough. Upon ordering, they were kind enough to switch us to a bigger table without us asking. Orders were by QR code so not much interaction other than that.
Prices: It’s Harajuku prices ngl, but 2000yen for the breakfast was well worth it. Was very full by the end. Where they really get you is the drinks. I think my can of root beer was like 700yen. Still came out cheaper than Eggs N Things, plus no 2 hour wait, so I’d much rather come here.
I also had a bite of the corned beef omelette. Real corned beef! Amazing. They also had an absolutely grammable and legitimate banana split that everyone around us was ordering, so I will be...
Read moreA decent place to chill in if you want to escape Tokyo's summer heat for a while ☀️
Feeling very tired from my walk, I decided to enter Hohokam Diner since it wasn't too far from where I was. The entire restaurant is American themed and suprisingly very spacious! The AC is also quite cold so it was a good place to take a rest in.
However, I would say that the food and drinks are just okay! The coffee was decent and wasn't too light. The apple pie was a bit too stale for me and I had some trouble cutting it with a knife. It wasn't very warm either so I did wonder if they heated it up or not 🤔 Although, I think this place would probably do savory food much better like burgers and fried chicken! I recommend getting those items instead of ordering a cake.
The service was excellent and the staff greeted me with a kind smile 🫶 I also like that you can place orders via a QR code, it was very convenient! Also, they have a lot of cute merch here 🤩 So if you do end up loving the food, I suggest buying some merch to take home...
Read moreThe spot is nice, it has a terrace and a rooftop. You can go there and it will be considered as “to go” food. During covid times we wanted to eat outside but we noticed the rooftop was a smoking allowed area so we decided the terrace at the 1F. It was quite surprising then how 3m from the terrace is where the workers go to have the cigarette break, so all the customers will get the bad smell. This is specially surprising when they could go to the rooftop.
Regarding the food, it is this kind of food that looks better in the pics than it tastes but it is not bad. They serve quickly, portions are good size and it tastes ok. We ordered a salad and 2 burgers. I dis jot understand well the mix of raw ham with shrimp and tuna but it was good. The burgers were quite salty but good, nice bread.
Probably without the smoking incident this would have been a 3.5 but I find it a big lack of care for their customers, hence...
