Grimm Harajuku — Local services in Tokyo

This place is one of the glitches in the 'perfect' world of restaurants in Japan. I think it's either owned and run by non-Japanese or by some very not so nice Japanese.

The service at this restaurant borders from unJapanese to borderline thuggish. Just like what another reviewer said, beware of the bald guy here. He is kinda thuggish in his behavior. When I politely asked for our check, he just stared at me. Our table was right beside the cashier, and he was the one manning it. He was just behind me, so I just turned around and asked him for the check. It was like I disturbed him or something because he had like a pissed off expression, and he just stared at me. I just turned away and continued my conversation with my wife. After a couple of minutes, I felt someone tapping on my shoulder. It was the bald guy. He didn't say anything. He just tapped on my shoulder. What a peach. When he got my attention, he just pointed to the amount displayed on the LED screen of his cash register, and I figured it was the amount I needed to pay. He didn't give me a bill/check for the breakdown. I paid him, and he didn't give me a receipt either.

Food here is amateurish. Place is old and kinda rundown.

Food was decent, but 2 things made the experience bad: Non-smoking “area” is a JOKE (see photos). Non-smoking place only has 1 small table for 2 and 1 large table for 4 (if pairs come to eat, 2 groups will have to use the same table) The rest of the restaurant’s space is for smoking. BTW the “wall” dividing the 2 is open, so you will still smell cigarette if someone decides to smoke. Staff manners- When we first came in, we were just told to seat in the smoking area table w/o asking about preference. Then, as the pair using the large table had a mask on our would-be side of the table, staff just took it and gave it to the now-shocked customer. Lastly, while all of us on that table were still eating, a different staff just decided to pull the table to the middle w/o saying a word.

The guy came in to my face pointing fingers at me while we were having our food and was talking gibberish which was really hard to understand. I was asking this bald guy employee to speak calmly and slowly as I can’t understand what’s he’s saying but he got more mad as I told him to do so. I was laughing while paying because it felt unreal and then the guy followed me until outside the store and harassed my friend by touching him and scuffling his jacket. THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT TO HAVE STEAKS AND HAMBURGS AS THE FOOD QUALITY WAS VERY LOW. ALL FOODS WE ORDERED WERE SQUISHY AND UNPLEASANTLY DELIVERED.
