I had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant, and I feel compelled to share it. From the very beginning, the service was shockingly unprofessional. The waitstaff threw the menus onto the table without so much as a greeting or a smile. They spoke in raised voices, with a tone that bordered on rude — something I’ve never encountered to this degree in Japan, where hospitality is usually impeccable.
Things only got worse from there. I ordered what was listed on the menu as 100% orange and apple juice. That usually implies fresh juice or at the very least, pure juice made without dilution. What I received instead was clearly a watered-down, low-quality nectar — the kind that comes from a carton and is often served in budget cafes, not a proper restaurant. It was pale, weak in taste, and completely unconvincing. I’ve visited a vast number of restaurants across many countries, and I absolutely know the difference between real juice and cheap substitutes. This was the latter.
When I politely brought this to the staff’s attention, rather than acknowledging the issue or offering to replace the drinks, they insisted — quite aggressively — that what I was served was 100% juice. There was no willingness to listen or resolve the situation. Instead, I was met with defensive, borderline hostile behavior that made the whole experience feel even worse.
We ordered the simplest pancakes from the menu, nothing complicated at all — and yet we had to wait for almost an hour and a half before they arrived. The delay was completely unjustified, especially considering how basic the dish was.
A restaurant isn’t just about the food or drinks — it’s about how you’re treated as a guest. Here, I felt disrespected, dismissed, and completely unvalued. It’s rare for me to write negative reviews, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone.
I’m giving this restaurant one star only because the system doesn’t allow me to give zero. I sincerely hope the management sees this and takes it as an opportunity to retrain their staff and improve their standards — both in product quality and in basic...
Read moreThis is my second time here within my two week vacation. I took a 35 min train ride during rush hour just to come here. This place is that good. Servers are courteous and atmosphere is quite (but not too quiet), calming, relaxing, with a great view. The leather sofas and arm chairs are wonderful. The price of their menus are even better. 10/10
The coffee is delicious. I would say better than Starbucks. Above standard. I had their iced coffee this time. It came in a refrigerated copper cup. Iced coffee so good it does not need milk or sugar to compliment their flavor. (I usually have my iced coffee with milk and sugar). Their iced coffee is strong but harmonious. Notes of Coco, citrus fruits, cream, dark chocolate, slightly sweet.10/10
Royal milk tea is wonderful as well. Lightly sweetened in good balance. 6/10
Their toast and egg with mash and gravy is exceptional. The egg is cooked over easy on top of a bed of thick creamy gravy and mashed potatoes. Dipping the crispy but soft toast into the eggs and gravy is heaven. The name of this morning combo is unceremoniously known as the eggslut option... But don't be fooled! For those who want a savory breakfast option, this is an amazing choice! I will take...
Read moreLovely coffee franchise! This branch is situated in a small building and please note the cafe doesn't have their own bathroom so you will need to use the shared bathroom of the building. It's locked so you need to follow the instructions carefully on the reciept on how to unlock the entry.
The cafe has a great waiting system and area. There are few seats for you to wait and you enter on the tablet whether you are dining in or takeaway. They also have a code for the English menu so you can have a look while you are waiting.
Table turnover is about 10-15mins. We ordered a few thinga to try: souffle pancakes, pudding, vanilla souffle and two specialty coffees. Food came out in about 15mins with the exception of the vanilla souffle that took at least 20mins which was understandable as everything was madr fresh.
Their coffees are fragrant and nutty with a nice hint of bitterness.
Hoshino Coffee still retains their showa style interior and food menu so I would say this place is great if you wanna get cozy atmosphere with comforting...
