Ideally, please never eat here unless it's both your closest option, and only one left for hot food. Of my entire week in Japan this was both the worst food and worst service. The food I can give a pass to as it's just not as good as any other decent ramen shop in Tokyo. They don't get a pass on being complete asshats to all their customers. In the 30 minutes I was there I witnessed them yelling at someone about using the restroom, scream at a couple who took a seat at the bar instead of where the waiter wanted them to go. The male waiter here, a complete douche. Avoid the fukoku ramen (pork broth). We get 1 regular fukoku and the special fukoku. He confusingly upsells by saying oh do you want to add an egg to the regular bowl. The picture already had an egg in it but given by how irked he's been and less than stellar willingness to take orders and serve I don't question it and say yes. Bowl comes out with 2 eggs now, wonderful. Heads up it's cash only, and there are far better ramen shops and businesses that are thankful and far worth supporting with your cash than this one. This place already gets enough support being open late, Next to a 24hr grocery store, and close to the hotels. Those who walked in casually like I did are doomed no seating then after the fact Those of you who cared to poke a glimpse at the reviews and have a choice, I hope you make...
Read moreLoved this local little ramen shop. Located just across the street from our hotel, Hamacho Hotel.
It was open crazy hours (11am-3am) which it made it super convenient to eat. I think i ate here 4 times in the span of 10 days.
The broth was amazing and flavorful. Not thick and creamy like a lot of westernized ramen shops. Reasonably priced and i would say cheap compared to western standards. 2 ramen, gyoza, 2 eggs, a beer and edamae will run you about 3000 yen. There is always a cold jar of water on the table and they do have a English menu available.
There was the cutest little old man still hustling away every night. I wish I could speak Japanese cause I was really curious about the history and if it was a family business and such.
It is a cash only shop so please be aware of that but there was always locals in the shop, which i took as a good sign.
Not super vegetarian friendly but that depends on how picky of a vegetarian you are. My partner isn't militant about being a vegetarian so he just gave me his char sui and we got him a couple extra eggs in his soup. Broth is primarily a pork stock.
I will miss this place greatly. どうもありがとうございます...
Read moreWe came to this place right after our arrival in Tokio, it was before midnight and we were starving. The guys invited us warmly and brought an English menu for us, so we felt welcome. We've ordered our food, the first option from the menu, most basic ramen. And we've waited. We've waited for 20 minutes, then 30, 40 up to 50 mins. Other people were leaving and new people were coming. All of them getting their food before us. We didn't get our food at all. When the guys sitting next to us, who came half hour after us, got their ramen portions I looked at the waiter and saw in his eyes we're not getting our order. We were the only non-Japanese...
