Single O Hamacho — Restaurant in Tokyo

Avoid this place if you expect respect! Visiting here can easily ruin your day. This place is a combination of poor service and inflexible policies!

We visited the cafe on a weekday. With only one person ahead of us ordering, and four vacant tables, I took a seat while my partner was ordering. However, a staff member instructed me to vacate the seat until our order was complete. When I explained that my partner was ordering for both of us, the staff insisted me leave, citing concerns the person behind me might want the seat. All this happened with very loud voice and in front of other customers! I understand the rule, but enforcing it loudly and disrespectfully on a quiet weekday with multiple empty seats seemed unreasonable.

Next, we requested two shots of coffee but received the same amount of milk as a single shot. When we asked for extra milk, the same staff member refused, demanding we purchase...

I found Single O while searching for coffee shops near my hotel. The coffee shop vibe in photos was exactly what I was looking for, and they lived up to every expectation. As I was staying across the street, I went all 4 mornings of my stay. The staff was extremely friendly and spoke English, while I did my best to speak in my best broken Japanese.

The coffee was amazing. On the first day, I had a pour over and a cortado, as well as the banana bread. The second day I tried their batch brew on tap, but added a prosciutto sandwich to my order, and couldn’t help but get the banana bread again!

By the third day, all of the staff that saw me began to recognize me and I felt extremely welcome in their shop. I made sure to leave with 2 bags of coffee to bring home with me to the US. If you stay in Hamacho area, you HAVE to visit Single...

My friends and I travelled to Japan from Australia for 5 weeks. We’ve explored and tasted specialty coffee all over Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and this was by far the best coffee experience we’ve had! Their pour over is always 10/10, milk coffees are smooth and delicious and even their brews on tap are amazing! Not only is the coffee amazing but also the customer service is incredible! Most of the staff speak great English, and even the ones that don’t try their absolute best to help you! They’re also just super friendly in general!
