My mediocre Session at Session. I came to the restaurant and bar because we were hotel guests and it was convenient. We asked to be seated near the window, because the night view was romantic. We were informed by the waiter that the only table that was available near the window was reserved for the evening, and therefore he could not offer it to us. This was approximately 8:30 PM. We then decided to dine near the kitchen where you could see the staff put together dishes. The look on the faces of the staff members looked unpleasant. The staff members in the kitchen looked like they were not happy to be there. Our first dish was a Barata cheese, and some red sauce, the Barata cheese was not fresh. Cheese skin was taut. You can see that it had been sitting there for quite some time. It was not made fresh daily. We ordered two drinks. We ordered the highball and a glass of red wine. The glass of red wine was not properly decanted, and it contained black particles at the bottom of my wine glass. Wine should always be decanted or poured at a certain angle so that clients do not get dirty particles at the bottom of their glass. We ordered the lasagna which was great but it was a little bit on the saltier side. The best dish was actually the one dish that was in season which is the persimmon salad with walnuts. If I had to re-create the dish all over again I would candied Honey the walnuts, or I would grated cheese on top. Lastly, we finished our meal with a dessert. We had the cheesecake which I am not a huge fan of. But interestingly enough that dessert, they shaved blue cheese on the cheesecake, but for the salad, they didn’t have any cheese on the salad. There was a piano in the middle of the day area, but no one played music. I don’t understand the whole point of having a piano at a bar and not playing any music after 8 PM. Finally, I asked to escalate my questions to the manager. The manager came over and I had a conversation with him. I’ve I learned that the seat that was reserved near the window was never taken. It was never booked and the guests never arrived. I was extremely disappointed, because I really wanted to sit at the window. So instead of giving me the seat and being observant at the restaurant, the manager, instead explain to me the process of which you can book a table at the window, which is not helpful given the fact that this is after the fact of the situation. If I was a really good manager, what I would have done was offered the customer to sit at the window table or encourage you to come back tomorrow night and dine at the restaurant again and I would guarantee you a seat at the window. This restaurant has terrible sales and negotiation skills and customer service skills and therefore I am giving them only...
Read moreRarely have I experienced more rude behaviour than here this evening. We are staying at the adjoining hotel and wanted to end the evening in a cosy setting with drinks. Everything actually started well, we were greeted, seated at a nice table and then shown the menu and the friendly service employee explained that there would be a short jazz music interlude on the piano. So everything was actually fine. Shortly afterwards, we were asked for a "ticket" by another, much less friendly member of the service staff. As she also spoke very poor English (which is strange in an establishment like this), she couldn't explain what she meant. From then on, it became downright absurd. Even the hotel staff who had been called in in the meantime couldn't give us any information. A situation like in Falthy Towers or the circus, very unpleasant with no resolution other than that we didn't get any drinks and obviously weren't allowed to be in the bar (and we still do not know why) Funny that this is supposed to be a blue note establishment, I would have expected...
Read moreUnfortunately, the price and ambience did not match the quality of the food & service we received.
First off, the negatives: The hummus (ordered as a starter) came at the same time as the main course. The appetiser also arrived late. Unfortunately the hummus was also dry and lacked consistency.
The pasta main course tasted average, however, the portion size did not match the price. The chefs and the staff should communicate better to serve dishes at a comfortable pace (not too fast!).
Now onto the positives… the drinks were great (mojito); the ambience is very nice (just deserves more attention to be paid to the food to go with it).
Overall, I cannot recommend for dining out, but if you fancy a drink and happen to be in the area, it is not...
