Janu Bar — Restaurant in Tokyo

This bar has been open for a couple of weeks, and you can definitely see that the organisation and cooperation between the team members needs to be refined. That said, the staff at the reception (both downstairs and upstairs) was very polite and professional. 5 stars service from them.

The real issue in my humble view was the main bartender. He appeared to only look after Japanese customers, and his attitude towards foreign customers was somewhat arrogant. He also seemed to not like solo female customers, which is also not appropriate in 2024. This is particularly shameful and unfortunate given the other shortcomings of the experience (see more about the cocktails below). There was another bartender who was nicer but didn’t seem too comfortable (again, from my observations the main bartender destroys the atmosphere with his bad attitude).

The cocktails were good, but not in line with the price. Sometimes they appeared over elaborate in the execution, and the taste was not particularly memorable. The size of the cocktails tends to be small, which wouldn’t be an issue if they were not blend and unbalanced. The snacks served with the cocktails were very nice.

The location is very nice with some views of the Tokyo tower, however it is in no way unique or particularly different from other hotel cocktail bars...

We (party of 4) had dinner in the grill and then went to the bar for a cocktail. I ordered a rum Negroni directly to the barman, but when it arrived, it tasted all wrong. I could taste gin in it so I asked the barman to show me what he used. He showed me the diplomatico rum, a white gin and the Campari. Yes he mixed the gin with the rum and campari, and served that up as a Negroni.

I had to show him how to remake it, rum/vermouth/campari, which he then did and this time it was fine.

But unforgivable amateurism with top price tag.

I paid over ¥10,000 for the four drinks after having spent a substantial amount on dinner in the grill.

The beautiful setting and atmosphere are meaningless when the barman can’t even mix a basic...

そんな空間でいただくカクテルは、まさに芸術作品。 今回は、フレッシュな柑橘とハーブを使ったシグネチャーカクテルをオーダー🍋🌿 一口目から「うわっ、これはいい…！」と声が漏れました（心の中で）

素材へのこだわり、バーテンダーの繊細な手さばき、 そしてグラスに至るまで妥協が一切ない、丁寧なおもてなし。 「ただの一杯」じゃなく「記憶に残る一杯」でした🍸✨

スタッフの接客も静かで心地よく、 会話を邪魔しない距離感と、目配りのあるプロフェッショナリズムに脱帽。

カウンターでゆったりと過ごすもよし、 奥のソファ席で誰かと語らうもよし。 どこを切り取っても、非日常のエレガンスが漂っていました。

記念日や、自分へのご褒美にぴったりの場所。 忙しい日常の“余白”として、JANU BARという静かな贅沢をぜひ体験してみてください😊
