1st time trying Kobe Beef! We really wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate our honeymoon with Kobe.
When I review restaurants I usually take notice of 3 points - taste, amount, price - all points will be pointed out.
Funny thing is we heard of the place from a local guide, yet only found the other branch, the reservation on the Japanese website however is for this branch (luckily!), hence why I added the English name and added my review.
To our surprise we could reserve a place very few days a head, even though most Kobe beef restaurants are full, but the place is actually very authentic, clean and lovely. The Chef and the staff are very friendly and kind! explained all dishes and options, showed us the certificates and the meat beforehand! suggested all the options and cooking before delivering the dishes. Really interesting and tasty dishes with high variety. Dishes came one after the other when we finished eating and not everything at once, which made all dishes hot and nothing cooled down while we eating. Dishes were very tasty, of course the kobe beef steaks (sirlion and fillet) were included. The staff were also explaining how its better to eat each dish, what to add/top on the food and what not. Was not hungry when i left. I did not expect to be hungry for such a price but I've been surprised before. As a big man I need a big dish or dishes to be satisfied, and here I left not wanting to eat till dinner! I cant say if it was cheap or expensive, iv'e seen dishes much more expensive and dishes that were cheaper (but without kobe), both in this restaurant and in others. All i can say is we paid 15k yen each for the courses, and we were both satisfied.
I came with the purpose to try Kobe beef, I was mentally prepared to pay more to try it, nor did I expect to be full because its an expensive piece of meat, however i was pleasantly surprised.
Do recommend! and will definitely come back again with friends next time I...
Read moreI tried booking a table for 3 at a good steak place and the first 6 places I contacted were all full for the evening. I saw Kobe Beef Daia and their 4.9 stars on Google Maps and thought "wow, no way they'll have a table". To my surprise they said we could come over at "any time". Hmmmm. We arrived at about 7PM and there were no other customers in the place. Hmmmm. We got the menu and each ordered what was advertised as grade A5 Kobe Beef, at a price of around $120 per person. But our waiter pushed back on our order, hard. He said that what we ordered would be "dry" or "chewy" and that we'd be much happier with the "premium" offerings that started at around $400 per person, and went up over $600 (even with the Yen at 150/USD). I've been going to Japan for 25 years and have had fantastic, melt-in-your mouth beef and never paid anything like that amount. I said as much to the waiter and he said "you can get that other beef anywhere, what we have isn't available anywhere else. I don't want you to be disappointed". Well, if he means beef at an absolutely outrageous price then he's correct. He continued the hard sell for a bit and finally accepted our original order. The steaks were OK, nothing special, and a bit expensive for what we got. But the experience was simply horrible. I went back and looked at their reviews, I'd be shocked if most of them were real. I don't trust this place. There are better places that have integrity, go to one of...
Read moreLast week, my brother and I went to Takashimaya for shopping and we wanted to find a Kobe beef restaurant nearby. We came across with this one with high Google reviews. We were a group of five, but only three of us wanted beef. The other two didn't. When we arrived, a handsome man greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but he still offered us a table. To our surprise, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The lady who served us was very polite and accommodating. They even made rice for those not having beef, despite it not being on the menu. We ordered three portions of 220 grams of Kobe filet, expecting a great experience due to the good reviews. This was our last meal before leaving for Dubai after a 14-day trip to Japan. However, it was a huge disappointment. Even Angus beef would have been better. It was a total scam. I don't think it was Kobe beef at all. We also ordered rice, salads, and when the bill came, it was JPY 178,000. I never expected this in Japan. This place was empty for a reason. After our meal, the head chef asked us to give good ratings on Google with a QR code. This is why they have such high ratings. I recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs. Even the smallest restaurant in Japan serves better food. We had Kobe beef at the Westin Tokyo for less than what we paid here. It's a complete scam. Don't waste your money on this terrible...
