Korean Kitchen Macchan – Shin-Okubo No.2 Branch — Restaurant in Tokyo

We went at 1730 on a Sunday and it was empty due to the rainy weather. It would have been kind if they could have shown us a more empty seat, as we were uncomfortable because there was a party going on right behind us.

The thickly sliced samgyeopsal is grilled by the waiter when you are ready to eat. The tsuke sauce is really good. Garlic and miso? Best match for pork belly. The only problem is that the minimum order is for two people. I guess it's their signature dish, and I guess it's a source of revenue in terms of price, but it's not cheap. I will repeat when I can order for one.

The cajun has a wonderful sweetness from the crab. The sauce is not too spicy, but could be a little spicier. I wonder if it is arranged for the Japanese.

Another dish was mini-sized potato pancakes. It was also delicious.

We ordered four more drinks, and the total price was 9,000 yen. I was full. Not bad for the cost, but not...

The food is great, reasonably priced and very tasty. The all you can drink menu has a lot of offerings and I always enjoy going here. I have to drop a few stars for the service, though. One of the waitresses was visibly annoyed with us any time we spoke with her, and she refused to serve us two bottles of soju at the same time despite another waiter giving us two earlier in the night (we were a group of 6 so two bottles isn’t an unreasonable request). Also, the course we reserved came with a rice dish at the end that we were never served but we were a bit afraid to ask lest face her annoyance again.
