It's an interesting experience. Little girls might like it, but I went with adults only and I thought the whole thing was rather cheesy. You'll have to follow the dance movement of the maid servers before you can eat your fries, if you order special hurrah2 fries. And for some drinks and others, if you order special order you'll have to dance "magic" dance with them before you get to eat.
Then there was a show, which was just ok. The servers danced but it was not very well coordinated. She span around few times to show off her shorts (to their credit she wore boys' shorts and not a thong) so it was somewhat "rated E for everyone" I guess. And the dance was not expressively suggestive though I still thought it was a bit awkward. And we were asked to stand during the "show" and clap with them. We decided to sit during the 2nd half of the dance and finish our food coz they charge like 5$ per person to stay for 60 mins.
You can take pics of the food and yourselves, but not the servers. They passive-aggressively force you to write a review either on Google or TripAdvisor so that you can get a picture with one of the maid servers. They actually asked me like 5 times to review and they will take a pic of your review that you will show on your phone. I guess that's how they get a lot of reviews. You'll get to pick which maid server you want to take pic with if you show the review.
Pics of the food and place are nice, though. And if you come for the pics I suggest to order the really cute meals and ice cream. They actually come out like the pictures!
Prices are quite expensive, considering there's a ~5$ (USD) upfront charge, but...
Read moreI had a wonderful time at this location!! Some various tips/notes below:
While the staff are amazingly accommodating (and I do believe there's a few that are able to speak conversational English), you will get more out of this experience if you know Japanese. You don't have to be fluent, but even being able to string together a few sentences will really go a long way in making it feel like a special moment. If you don't speak Japanese and aren't familiar with how maid cafes work, please make sure you research what's common/expected beforehand so you go in with realistic expectations. I've seen reviews being upset that they received cheki/were unable to take photos of the maids, but those things are the industry standard for every maid cafe I've been to. The food is good for the price (if you're going to a maid cafe for Michelin Star quality meals, you might be barking up the wrong tree), but I do wish they had better indicators for what was sold out. My maid had to walk back and forth from the kitchen in order to confirm what was actually available when I was there, so it seems the communication could be improved for the sake of the maids as well. That being said, the curry I got was delicious and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I went at around a bit before one on a weekday and had no issues getting seating. I would generally consider Maidreaming to be an experience that is appropriate for the entire family (anecdotally, I saw multiple families with small children arrive, both tourists and locals, and the kids seemed to be...
Read moreWe had an interesting time at Maidreamin' in March 2024. We went for the experience, though the food and drinks were tasty enough. Our servers were cute and "meow meow" became the catch phrase for the remainder of the trip. We had a reservation, but they were accommodating when we arrived early and were able to get a table right away, though the place was not busy at that time anyway. There were three disappointments, however. At 6pm, over half the menu was "sold out," which seemed very strange to me during a prime dinner time. Also, I ordered and paid for a performance, which they forgot to give until I pointed out on the bill. The maid was accommodating at that point, though we weren't allow to video, which is what I thought I paid for. Finally, I also paid specifically for a photo op on our phones, but because I don't speak Japanese, was given some sort of mini-1x1.5 print. It may be trendy with the kids, but was the last thing I wanted. I pointed this out, but this was not resolved, I suppose because of the language barrier. I am glad I attended, but it was not as...
