What an amazing experience. Popped in for lunch because I'm staying nearby. It was only myself and two other tourists in there. There's a set menu - premium and not premium sushi. My premium set was 4000 Yen. The food was super fresh and delicious. What really make it awesome was the lovely boss who worked there. We chatted about Australia and his visit there 30 years ago. I absolutely loved it. He offered to take my photo and then we took a photo together. I'm also usually not a huge fan of Uni, but this his was delicious - super fresh. Changed my mind on Uni forever. Going to see if I can head back for another visit before I leave Japan. Highly recommend if you're nearby to check it out. Btw, don't go there expecting some super modern, fancy, upmarket Ginza style sushi place. This place has been there since 1910 according to the owner. It's delicious, neighbourhood sushi, that's reasonably priced. I will always remember it, I hope you have a...
Read moreThe food at this place is truly hit or miss. The cheaper options were surprisingly decent, offering good value for what you pay. However, the pricier packages were a huge disappointment, falling far short of expectations. For something marketed as a premium experience, the quality simply wasn’t there. In fact, I’ve had fresher, better-tasting sushi from 7/11, which says a lot about the inconsistency here.
It feels like they put more effort into creating an image of luxury rather than delivering on it. While the lower-tier packages might be worth a try if you’re looking for something quick and inexpensive, the premium offerings felt like a complete scam. Overall, it’s clear this place is geared more toward trapping tourists with its name and pricing than providing a truly authentic or high-quality dining experience. If you’re looking for something reliable, I’d recommend skipping this...
Read moreTraditional, edo-style nigiri, sashimi and maki. The father has owned and cheffed place for 50 years, his son 25 years. You don't need 3 Michelin stars and a 6 month waitlist to find an authentic sushi experience in Tokyo. This is the real deal, with delicious, fresh pieces of many types of lovely fish, including a more than a few that are not common to Western appetites. If the chefs are a little busy to point out which items to dip in soy sauce and which to eat on their own, I found a helpful regular patron that made sure I did things properly. Food is served directly onto the counter, be prepared if you're from the West to not receive a plate and to eat your sushi as fast as the chef will serve you. Just a wonderful little sushi oasis, nothing overwhelmingly fancy, just sushi done very properly, the kind of experience one hopes to find while looking for...
