Please forgive my ignorance if I am not well educated, but as a traveller I didn't have a pleasant experience at this cafe and I haven't experienced this at all in 2 weeks of being in Japan.
As we entered the cafe (the only customers the whole time this happened) we felt pressured to order food straight away. This was followed up with constant conversations with the waiter in regards to ordering.
My partner ordered a coffee for himself and I sat with my bottle of water. After approximately 10 minutes the waiter returned for a final time and said "1 person, 1 drink". As I did not want a drink we had to leave because we only purchased one drink.
