Nakamenoteppen Shinagawa — Restaurant in Tokyo

I couldn’t wrap my mind around this place - my friend booked this place for us upon checking good reviews here. There were three of us and wanted to catch up while eating dinner together after a long time. The restaurant was really tiny - we struggled to even get inside as we were required to take our shoes off at the tiniest entrance. The food was decent, but due to Friday night it was really busy, so we were constantly rushed by waiters to order something. I know they care about us that we only had less than two hours to order food, but it was a bit too much. We wanted to talk but the waiters cut in way too much. We ended up eating and drinking what they recommended, I do remember the food was good but I just can’t remember what they even were as we barely ordered ourselves and were constantly pushed to order something.

If you like such lively and loud environments, go for it. It wasn’t for me, at least for that day when I wanted to relax and chat with my friends. ( and I always prefer if waiters give more distance, to be honest…) so unfortunately, I’d rather choose quieter places even if I need to...

Excellent izakaya in every category. Amazing service, all members of the staff were extremely friendly and made efforts to socialize. Drinks for fantastic, the umeshu and mikan liquor was super high quality. We ate about 8 things off the menu and all items were some of the best I've had at an izakaya.
