We had a tea tasting "kasane ("layered") with the same tea prepared multiple times. The menu helped guide us to the type of tea we were interested in based on their characteristics. It was a wonderful experience, the tea changed over each tasting. I went with tea #4 (tougenkyo) and my fiancée went with #14 (amakaori). The first tasting was so filled with umami that it felt like sipping on an eggyolk. The second tasting released more fruity notes, as if drinking a white wine and the third and fourth pour had more of the hay and greenery notes that I am used to in sencha. Accompanying the final pours were a lemon pie and a matcha cheesecake, both wonderful together with the tea.
I can highly recommend going here if you are at all interested in tea. Talking with the tea master and trying the different brews inspired me to learn more about extracting the different flavours from tea!

You should book a table or bring some time to wait.
You can taste sencha, gyukuro and matcha mainly from the...
Read moreI had a wonderful time here - the staff kindly explained the different kinds of tea and recommended one to try. I work in a tea shop back home so I know about tea and love trying new types. The one they recommended (Suiren) was delicious and the different ways of steeping the tea brought out so many flavours. As someone who knows a bit of Japanese I enjoyed having the time to work my way through the tea description at my slow reading speed! A really nice thing to do as a solo traveller. I came on a Friday and it was quiet....
