The only photo i have is of me and the owner not the food, because it was too delicious and i ate it all very quickly.
Late night after ending our activities for the day, my travel partner and i were scouring for vegetarian options. Many restaurants were already, or about to close and neither of us speak Japanese so calling ahead was a bit out of the question. My friend had some bland Indian food earlier in the week and so i had to convince her to try again, "I'm sure the next place will be good" We discovered this restaurant and walked a little ways away from where we were to find a Closed sign... our hearts and stomachs were broken. But, there were some people still inside, so we popped in to see what was up. The most wonderful man came to us and explained he had an incredibly busy day, it was the beginning of golden week, and he was going to close up earlier than the posted 4am time. He asked what we liked and so we ordered what we could, vegetarian biryani and chickpea dhal, i ordered chicken curry and lamb biryani and we were lucky enough to get the last naan in the shop. It would take some time, of course it's a restaurant i didn't expect it to be ready instantly. I also didn't expect it to be the best Indian food i ever had. The portions were generous but not as generous as the flavour. Each dish had such deep taste and left me wanting to eat more and more until of course i had eaten every last drop of curry and maybe just maybe i left some grains of rice.
I am from Toronto Canada, so i've had my fair share of Indian food and i'm sure this place has better than anywhere in Canada or perhaps even the world. ( barring India proper... maybe but i've not been yet)
Please visit the most glorious host, Sunni, and enjoy the most wonderful food he shares with all of us.
10/10 will...
Read moreFound this restaurant while walking around town near our Airbnb. The owner was out front as the restaurant wasn’t busy, spoke to us as we walked by, and welcomed us with his positive attitude.
We didn’t expect much, eating at an Indian restaurant in Japan, but the dishes were as good, if not better, than our favorite go-to Indian restaurants in the United States.
Wonderful naan (we ordered two varieties), chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, rice and cold beer. Food was fantastic - flavorful and extremely enjoyable.
The staff was incredible, asking us about our visit to Tokyo and our home back in the US. They were very attentive to our needs and came by often to check on us and fill our water glasses.
Highly recommend the place to anyone looking for something different than Japanese food. We will be back to enjoy another meal on our next...
Read moreThe place had OK Indian food, but it had ridiculous prices. ¥1,000 for a naan or tea or any pop drink. Their butter chicken and curry chicken had decent sauces, but barely any chicken in them.
During our visit a previous customer came who was shortchanged ¥5,000 and had to argue and prove that she was shortchanged. After some argument, the owner (the waiter?) gave her the money without apologizing. This did not help our impression.
The place is cash only.
