Had a really bad experience with this salon and the hairstylist Akira .very disappointed !!! My first time here I was happy with the cut and communication with Akira (who speaks good English so I thought communication was not a problem ) However ,the second time round inspite of telling him repeatedly I wanted a graduated layered cut that would make my hair look full & volumous ,he still thinned it telling me he needed to get rid of the weight .I showed him pictures of the haircut I wanted describing where I wanted my shortest layers to start and he did not give me layers like that at all .The outcome was disastrous and my hair looks half as thin and full as it was before the cut .I also showed him several pictures of the colours I wanted and how I wanted them to pop and for all of my hair to look bright and colorful and once again I was thouroughly disappointed inspite of making me sit there for 4 hours barely even showed ,I didn’t say much that day because he styled my hair with the dryer and I couldn’t tell how thin he’d cut it and he said the colour would show over time but the next Day after washing my hair it looked so thin and the colour was barely even there .They charged me around 270 dollars for all of this .My hair is short and none of it was worth it .I scheduled an appointment again telling him how unhappy I was ,showed him how flat my hair looked and how thin and how bad the colour looked and that now I wanted him to fix it by cutting it short (since that was the only way to add volume that HE had thinned ,and to give me blonde highlights since that would make it look fuller ) and we talked for about 40 mins with him shooting down all my solutions to his mess & making excuses saying it was impossible to colour my hair blonde and contradicting so many of his words ..for example initially when he colored my hair he told me he’d give me very few turquoise highlights (which he did) and more of the other colours (which he didn’t ) and then when I asked him to colour my hair blonde considering 70 percent of my hair was still natural and untouched by colour since he dint fill it with colour in the first place he refused saying there were too manyturquoise highlights and that the blonde would look bad over those highlights ..inspite of his outright lie (anyone could see there were only a few ,including my friend sitting right next to me ) I still went ahead and said don’t touch the turquoise highlights and colour the rest blonde and he still made excuses saying it would look hideous ! Anyway long story short he messed my hair up pretty bad and did NOT want to do anything to fix it (He did not come up with a single solution ) I came up with ten and he made excuses to all of them because he did not want to fix this .My friend who was with me is a witness .They did not give me a refund or even half a refund for that cost .instead the manager offered me a so called small gift of a hair oil bottle which I declined ! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone !! No value for your time ,money or opinions ,Akira does what he likes and takes no responsibility when he messes it up .Very very disappointing! The only reason I gave it a star is because of the bunny they have there .STAY AWAY from this place is the...
Read moreDecember 14th was my first time at Shinka Hair Design Roppongi, and my hairstylist was Hitomi. I am so glad that I went to this hair salon and was recommended to Top Stylist Hitomi. As she really works magic cutting and styling hair.
From the first moment I sat down, everything was a new and great experience! I first showed her two pictures I found on Pinterest of a medium shoulder-length hairstyle with layers (which I have shown a hairstylist in California before who told me the hairstyle would not work with thick hair). After showing Hitomi the pictures, I asked her to adjust the hairstyle to suit my face shape and features. Hitomi then took me to get my hair washed, where there was a sheer privacy curtain at each washing station, which also had a heated seat and a blanket for comfort. This was a spa-like experience just having my hair washed! When that was done she led me back to the hair cutting area and offered a massage on my shoulders, which when I asked, she said she was trained in! Those few minutes were bliss and just so relaxing. She then started to cut my hair and throughout the whole process, she would confirm with me if there were any small changes she wanted to add and to confirm the final length. The Shinka staff also provided a tablet to look at magazines while my hair was being cut and styled.
Overall, I am so happy and satisfied with how my hair now looks, and I have never left a hair salon feeling like I did when I left Shinka! I will now have to go back to Japan whenever I can to get my haircut by Hitomi as she is so talented and really knows what she is doing! My hair looks healthy and is full of volume after cutting more than 6 inches off. The staff at Shinka were also nice, and the salon was clean and beautiful. I genuinely recommend everyone to go to Shinka in...
Read moreI had the most amazing experience at Shinka Hair Salon during my recent trip to Japan. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. My stylist, Ai, was incredibly sweet and made me feel right at home. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted and offered thoughtful suggestions based on her expertise, which made me feel confident and at ease. She also spoke English which is a huge plus!
The service was truly exceptional, and I have to mention the scalp massage—honestly, it was so relaxing that I almost dozed off! It was the perfect touch to an already wonderful experience.
Coming all the way from the USA, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this salon far exceeded my expectations. The entire visit felt so personal, and Ai’s attentiveness made me feel like I was in the best hands. I left not only with a great haircut but also with a smile on my face and a sense of calm I didn’t have before.
If you’re ever in Japan, I can’t recommend Shinka Hair Salon enough—especially Ai, who made my time...
