Ribera Gotanda Steak House — Restaurant in Tokyo

First of all, there's not a lot of places in Asia that have good beef, let alone good steaks, but here at Ribera's, it's done perfectly. It's a small little place with only about 10-12 seats at a small bar facing the cook/server/cashier (all done by one man) and he's amazing. He doesn't care how you like your steak. You just tell him which one you want and he makes it and for those of us that like our steaks a little medium rare, it is cooked to perfection. They're served on a sizzling hot plate with a side of corn and a pat of butter on top. You also get a salad on the side and they've got a bowl of their secret sauce that I think you're supposed to slather on your steak (or that's what I got from watching other diners). We each got a cup of water and if requested, a plate of rice. This is a no frills kinda place, which is part of the charm in my opinion. It was so good that my husband and our friend ordered a second steak each. I'm a big wrestling fan and have always wanted to come here. The old photos are great and the food is great as well. Unfortunately I feel like I was ripped off for my meal. I paid 10,000 yen for my 4500-5000 meal and was given only 500 yen back. I didn't realize until after I left because I was distracted. There was actually alot of locals here at Ribera, but for tourists this place is mainly for wrestling fans. Huge cheap cuts of meat that are really salty. Had the 1 lb and it was a filling meal but comes out to 3,500yen so it’s not cheap. Checked out the wrestler photos and I would say for the wrestling fan it’s worth it.
