I had no idea what my friends booked when I walked in so everything was a surprise essentially. All I knew going in was that it was a samurai show.

We reserved a 7 spot the day before and had the front row at the very end. Sadly the seats were awful at the ends and too close to the stage.

It was 10,000 yen per person (includes 2 drink tickets), and it was about $600 Canadian for 7 people.

About 1.5 hours long with 4 intervals to order drinks, food, and go to the washroom and chill.

When you first walked the place is highly decked out with fun colors.

The show itself was um, interesting 😂 it wasn't my "thing" by any means. I would have never gone to something like this, however, I know a lot of people had a lot of fun. I personally would have skipped this all together in my travels. Especially for how expensive it was. Not worth it for me personally.

However, to be fair to them, just because it wasn't my thing doesn't make it bad persay. It was just very over the top, weird, and I don't speak Japanese so I have no idea what the play was about, or the story behind it. I think if I did it would of made it a lot better.

The actors were giving their all, but it was just a lot.

Service was good. Food was decent, no bad. We had the Ramen 🍜 for 1,500 yen and didn't need to pay for extra drinks. I had 1 white wine and 1 bottle of water for my 2 drink tickets so I am glad I didn't have to buy anything else.

Freebies included in the ticket: 2 free drink tickets, sake before the show started (but 5 of my friends got there late and didn't get this even at the interval), and at the end they gave us a tea and treat! The...

We were so excited to come back to Japan and bring our friends to see what we thought would be another incredible show like the old Robot Restaurant we loved. Unfortunately, tonight’s Samurai show in Shinjuku was a huge let-down.

The pacing was completely off – the show felt disjointed and dragged out. At one point, we timed it: about a minute and a half of dancing followed by seven minutes of nothing. In an era where entire stage sets can be changed in seconds, there’s really no excuse for that kind of stop-start experience. If something was happening during those breaks – even basic audience interaction or some storytelling – it might have held together, but instead it just felt like filler to encourage more drink and souvenir sales.

For the price, it simply wasn’t worth it. It’s marketed as a high-energy experience, but it lacked momentum, connection, and value.

Another issue was that the final part of the show suddenly switched to a Halloween theme. It didn’t fit with the rest of the performance and wasn’t mentioned anywhere beforehand. We would have chosen not to attend had we known, as it didn’t align with our values. Some sort of notice or option would have been appropriate.

Overall, we left disappointed and embarrassed that we’d talked it up to our friends. What was once an unforgettable night of energy and creativity has been replaced by something half-hearted and poorly...

We picked this because it was 94 degrees out and we needed something indoors with air conditioning. The show itself felt alittle like Mr. Rogers make-believe on crack with drums and singing, but it was fun and lively! The performers were super energetic and entertaining especially for a morning show! I was impressed by all the massive floats. The backstage must be gigantic to accommodate such large pieces.

Everyone who worked here spoke English and they were friendly. My husband and I went to the morning show at 1050. (Got there at 1030) we were given the choice to borrow a Japanese jacket/robe and then we picked our meal. I got the udon and my husband got the ramen. The food was surprisingly ok. The noodles were bouncy and flavorful.

During the show they gave complimentary sake and free sweet sticky rice dessert (tasted like mochi to me.) You also get lent light sticks so you can “participate” during the show.

I also appreciated that the ladies bathroom had free pantyliners and tampons. That is always a lifesaver in case of an emergency.

This is adults only. No one under 18 is permitted. The show isn’t inappropriate at all, but I think it’s a skinny space (it’s dark too) and it’s probably dangerous for kids to...

So, good part up front, the show is phenomenal. It’s really amazing what they have done and even more so when you see how small a stage they are working with. The choreography and dance are superb. Now, the downside is that in a 60-75 minute long show, you are only getting half that time as actual show. The rest of the time is intermission where they try shoving merch in your face. To be fair, it’s not the pushiest pitch I’ve seen, and they do need time to reset the stage between scenes, but it’s still a little disappointing having so much down-time. That said, take advantage of those intermissions, because I had to piss like a racehorse right at the end and missed the finale. Also, just know that this is a western-catered show for weebs. It’s good fun, and totally worth seeing, absolutely should be on your bucket list, but it’s not authentic Japanese culture, this is anime and manga catered to the western-gaze in the form of a Cabernet floor show. I would recommend you also see the real traditional stuff, like what the Gion Corner Theater shows, because Japan has so much more than just what weebs like. The weeb content is like 0.0002% of what makes Japan great. All in all, it’s an excellent time. Highly recommend.
