SarahBeth’s in Shinjuku offers a pleasant dining experience in a cozy, well-designed space — a peaceful escape in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and while we’re not sure if they take reservations, it may be worth checking ahead if you’re on a tight schedule.
One of the standout features is that they serve breakfast all day, which is perfect if you’ve had a late night or simply enjoy a more leisurely start to your day. It’s definitely a strong point that sets them apart.
Service was consistently good — staff were kind and attentive, and even the kitchen team helped with tasks like clearing plates and refilling water, which was appreciated.
Food-wise, there was a bit of a wait between dishes. The tomato soup arrived first, and it took another 10 to 15 minutes for the remaining plates to come out, which slightly broke the flow of the meal.
We tried the tomato soup, mac and cheese, and the Buddha Bowl. • The tomato soup was rich, comforting, and flavorful — just be careful as it’s served very hot. • The Buddha Bowl was outstanding, with a perfect balance between the falafel, vegetables, and dressing. Truly a standout dish. • The mac and cheese was tasty, though it came with bacon — something we hadn’t noticed on the menu, so just be aware if that’s something you prefer to avoid.
The menu is extensive, offering a wide range of options, which is great for groups or anyone looking to try something different.
However, the prices are on the higher side: our bill for two people came out to around 10,000 yen, which is above average compared to similar restaurants in the area (typically 5,000–7,000 yen per person). A mandatory service charge is also included, though the service quality helps justify it.
In summary, Sarah Beth’s is a solid option if you’re looking for a relaxed spot with a good all-day breakfast menu, attentive service, and well-prepared food. Just be prepared for slightly longer wait times and higher pricing — best saved for when you want to...
Read moreUpon ordering, we said that we were wanting to share the eggs benedict & pancake set. However after taking our order, the server said that we had to order a second meal as we were 2 pax. We were disappointed as this had not been clearly communicated; he only told us after we had gone through every step of the set order.
As for the tea included in the set, we asked for the seasonal tea, but the manager said no as it was not one of the options, however it was the exact same price on the menu as the regular tea? This made no sense to us, but it was not a big deal.
The main disappointed was that we felt very misled by the set - it did not detail that the eggs benedict and pancake would only be half the size. We thought it would be more bang for our buck, but nooooooo, this would only be the case if the food was not halved.
All that aside, the food was average and the service was rather slow. Finally when we asked for our tea in the set because it had not come, they charged us for an extra tea on the bill. This was corrected when we checked our bill, but overall they could do better with clearer and honest service instead of a marketing gimmick in the form...
Read moreThe service was really disappointing. I wore a skirt today, and when I sat down, the seat was soaked with water. I was shocked—my skirt and leg got wet. I stood up immediately and used my own tissue to wipe the seat. The waiter, who had a ponytail, looked at me and said, "I already wiped it." I didn’t want to say anything to her because she made me feel like I had done something wrong.
The food was not as good as it used to be. We ordered the signature course, and after finishing the first dish, no one came to collect our plates. We waited a long time for our pancakes. We stared at our empty plates for quite a while, and when a waitress finally came to collect them, we asked about the pancakes. She replied, "It takes about 20 minutes." The problem is we had already finished our first course almost 30 minutes ago without anyone checking on us.
I have been to many restaurants in Japan, and this was not what I expected. The staff seemed unwilling to serve tourists and often wore unfriendly expressions. We are the customers, and we have been very polite to them out of respect.
It was an unhappy experience, and we are sure we won’t...
