Been there on Thursday for dinner at around 1915. Waited for less than 15 mins I think. Super close to the Shinjuku Station's south exit. It seems to be a very popular shop and usually a long queue. It's located on the 2nd floor. The stair is quite narrow. 😊
It is a very typical Japanese ramen shop, as in small space, can accommodate up to 15 pax, 5 counter seats, 2x4 table seats and 1x2 table seats. Not recommended for groups, stroller and wheelchair visitors. 😅
They only have two types of ramen, spicy and shio (clear broth). The taste of their homemade ramen is very light, that some people may not like it if they are tend to heavier taste. You may request extra size/large noodles for free. "HALAL MENU" seems available too if you ask. Average price and considered affordable. 😊
Seafoods based broth, is made from different types of fishes depending on the season (They will show it in the shop everyday). No pork and alcohol is involve in the making of the broth. It served with prawn mix fish and soft bones balls, and chicken balls with some fine strips of leeks. You may add on your own toppings. Eggs topping are super highly recommended. You should not miss it!! I tasted happiness from the eggs. 😍
Overall, is a must try ramen shop if you are tired of usual strong taste of pork bone based ramen. 😊
Recommend to try the original taste (shio ramen). Don't forget to ask for yuzu pepper if you are a fan of yuzu. A touch of yuzu pepper in your shio ramen will make your day. 😉
FYI, for anyone who are a fan to spicy, but not very good at it, the spicy ramen there is actually quite spicy as in not the usual Japanese level of spiciness. You may try and get...
Read moreSaw the review on Google Map and went there for the fish soup ramen, which is not very common as those you could find are usually pork or chicken soup.
Location...The shop is not too difficult to find if you could read jap-chin characters. Plus, it’s near the SW exit of JR Shinjuku.
Availability of seat...has a few locals queuing when we arrive at 2100hrs. Waited for less than 10mins before we get our seats. Staff was helpful getting our order while we were queuing, so the food didn’t take long to serve after we sat down.
The menu... Three parts: The main, the snacks and drinks. For the main, it’s just chilly or not chilly and with / without rice ball. Each bowl comes with a chicken meat ball and shrimp meat ball. Not sure if there is an English menu as my friend’s Japanese was adequate.
The staff... very friendly and thoughtful. Gave us extra room for our belongings.
The food... very good. The soup was fresh and tasty. The portion is enough for a single person and you may ask for more noodle for free (as written on the menu but we didn’t ask).
Overall... a must go if you like ramen but tired of the oily meat based soup elsewhere. Better avoid peak hours if u don’t like...
Read moreI ordered the limited, cold clam ramen, usual ramens are served hot, but this one is the first cold ramen I tried. Shop attendant also reminded me it’s cold. As I knew that, to prepare food below room temperature which can still preserve their umami and original taste are very difficult, but they nail this. Soup base is not salty, but it has all the umami of clams and fish. It tastes like all the element of the sea is concentrated within. With the side dish being marinated kelp 昆布, the whole bowl of ramen basically became “the sea” itself. Clams are huge, yet, its juiciness is well-preserved. Ramen is the thick version not the thin one, which is good for people who like 粗麵 thick noodles. Moreover, the slight taste of sourness of the lemon does amplify the umami of the soup without even adding extra salt. Please remember, saltiness =/= umami. In general, another must go specialty ramen in...
