Pricey for the portions.
This place was alright. Not the greatest place to try wagyu and people tent to come here just for the views of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and the square. The place is fairly small win the corner of the building facing the crossing. The windows are dingy and need cleaning. The staff is very inattentive and they do not believe in customer service. There was a guy next to me who asked to take a portion of his meal to take away and they denied it. The man was bringing the food to his wife which was sick in the hotel. They still said no. If I pay for food this expensive I will want to take it away too and not discard it. I been to 3 Michelin star restaurants who offer way more for the money to include taking your food away.
For the food itself it is fine and alright. Like I mentioned there are better places to try wagyu in Japan. You are just a google search away. This the best meat in this restaurant were the premium cuts and there was only 1 out of the 7 I tried which was good. The other portion to this place is that the staff doesn’t show you how to cook the meat. Premium meat like wagyu needs specific heat and time to cook just right before the meat is trash. No one gave instructions and no one helped out good thing I had experience with this meat before. The drinks were alright but water down too. I ordered a mega highball and I didn’t even feel it. Normally highballs get me buzzed but this one was so water down I hydrated my body more to go to another place and get real alcohol lol.
If you are in the area and in a budget I say skip this place. If you have money to burn I say Come here for the drinks and views for a few minutes and leave. Don’t waste your money on the Wagyu. The portions are super small for...
Read moreOur first proper dinner in Tokyo brought us into Shibuya, to a restaurant perched directly above the famous Shibuya Scramble. From the windows you can watch the spectacle of thousands crossing in every direction, a sight that feels uniquely Japanese.
We had booked for 7 but arrived a little early and were seated without trouble. The staff were welcoming and helpful as we settled on the set menu featuring eight different cuts of wagyu. If you’ve never had wagyu before, it is a very different experience from ordinary beef. The marbling makes each bite melt in your mouth, but the richness quickly builds. At first, it’s indulgent, but as the cuts progress you realize just how much fat you are taking in. Some slices were nearly more white than red. It isn’t a fault of the restaurant—it’s simply the nature of this breed of cow.
The set menu also offered a red prawn, small portions of chicken and pork, three vegetables, and a delicate egg drop soup that helped to cut through the heaviness. A lemon sorbet closed the meal with just the right brightness to push the savoryness to the back of our consciousness. We lingered by the windows after dinner, watching the dance of the crossing below before heading back to Ginza for the night. Some experiences are worth having once, but once...
Read moreFood was average but the service was really bad. A group who approached the staff after me was seated before my group, although both of us made reservations. We weren't served the wet towels nor were we given an explanation on where to store our things upon being seated. I saw another table had a basket underneath their seat so I asked the staff for it, only to be told that we can store our things inside the seat instead. We were also wondering how to make an order. I saw another table given a QR code but we were not given any, fumbled through their menu only to realize that orders could be made through a QR code on a laminated piece of paper, after a good 5-10 minutes. The staff could have given an explanation to us. They knew my group was a foreigner group, but they knew I could understand Japanese because I spoke to them in Japanese, but no. I observed other tables and noticed that the other tables (Japanese) were provided with better service. The meat came out really slow although it's raw and doesn't require any cooking in the kitchen. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant due to the...
