I went to the sister store in Yokohama, and as expected, the quality of the sushi was high.
The waiting time during the weekend was around 80 minutes. My main problem with the store was that, to put it bluntly, they were racist.
Everything was going smoothly, and the sushi was good, but when I ordered the wakame soup to end my meal, I noticed from the smell and then the taste that the soup was spoiled. I subtly called the staff to inform them so that they could take the plate away. When the staff took the plate away, they returned and immediately told me, out loud, that the soup was good, and that maybe it tasted different for me because I am a foreigner.
My discomfort was that they repeated it to me about four times, raising their tone of voice. At the end, I didn't understand why they just didn't take the soup and leave, but instead had this sudden need to let me know that I am a foreigner out loud. Even before I decided to return the soup, two more people who were with me at the table, one of them Japanese, agreed that it was spoiled.
It was completely disrespectful, and I let them know right away, and the only thing they could reply was that soup was good and because I'm a foreigner I apparently cannot notice when something is spoiled or not. (Lol)
Something as simple as taking the plate and leaving it like that would have been the easiest solution(which had happened in other conveyor sushi that I have gone), somehow it seemed they wanted to let us know "our place".
From this, despite the delicious sushi, the service completely sucked.
I guess I will keep going to the one...
Read morePretty good conveyor belt sushi restaurant in the heart of Shibuya. It can be somewhat difficult to find, as it’s on the 8th floor of building A of the Seibu complex. But I’m pretty sure only one of the Seibu buildings has 8 floors to begin with, so you’ll find it eventually.
We lined up before opening at 10:45 on a Friday morning and there were already a few groups ahead of us. There’s over a dozen chairs to queue in, so it’s not too bad compared to other places.
Food: overall, sushi quality was pretty good. There were some slight problems like the rice falling apart on the pre-made plates or the fish quality on certain pieces (e.g., negitoro or the regular ikura), but understandable given the price. Typical menu for a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, with options for fried foods, soups, salads and desserts. Torched / Aburi pieces were good.
Service: despite how busy this place was, service was good. There’s a call button on the ordering iPads to ask the staff for help or for other requests, and they answer within a minute or two. Plates come on the little Shinkansen trains if you’re seated away from the main bar - can take anywhere from 5 to 15 mins to arrive, depending on your order size.
I think it’s worth the wait. For 3 people and a total bill of 5500 yen or so, you’d be hard pressed to get this value elsewhere. Large menu with a wide variety to suit...
Read moreFirst, place is located in a long building, like a mall, and is in 8th floor which you should take the elevator.
service, food quality and prices are amazing. Here is a breakdown for my fellow tourists:
on weekend, queue is like 30-40 min long. You can get counter or table, depending on your party and busyness level of the place.
REMEMBER to get a number from the entrance otherwise you are not in the queue.
once seated, you can the tablet pc on the table to order from menu. This will signal the chefs and they will prepare your meal or drink. Sushi you order, will arrive from the upper track of the tray. Little red light will signal you. When you get it, you can click on red button to send the tray train back to kitchen.
there is also another line in the tray; lower line. Here, random plates will come and you can take whatever you fancy. You will get charged by the color of that plate as you didnt choose those from the menu.
when all is done, you click on "pay" section in the ipad, waiter will arrive, counts and give you an elektronic device which is your receipt document. You go to cashier and give that, and pay. Easy :)
waiters are fast, speaks english and very friendly. Place packed with japanese and tourists alike.
We went as 2 people, ate around 24 plates (2 pieces nigiri avg. On 1 plate) , 3 beers each and paid 6.5k...
