Shimantogawa — Restaurant in Tokyo

Visited based upom a recommendation by the hotel concierge. Note the online reviews and pictures are deceptive, restaurant is gloomy and so poorly ventilated a smoke cloud from the grill with an unbearable smell is ever present.

The staff tried their best to be accommodating, but the food was also subpar, the wagyu is nothing more than a piece of fat while other dishes are equally disappointing.

If you are visiting tokyo save your nights for one of the countless other exceptional restaurants throughout the city.

Came here for the sake and atmosphere and wasn't disappointed but definitely not impressed. Shimontagawa is selling seating area and not food (or arguably the drink). Whale and Katsuo no Tataki are fabulous in this place, therefore the 5 stars. Located in Ginza makes a perfect stop for dinner after walking around the fancy shops of Ginza.
