The restaurant was so slow that waiting for an hour after ordering was completely normal for them. It's best to avoid this place. I would give it zero stars if it were possible.

My recent restaurant experience was terrible. I went there to celebrate my partner's birthday, but the food took forever to arrive. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered and when it arrived:

Nonalcoholic drinks: 15 minutes after ordering Chips and salsa: 40 minutes after ordering Wings: 1 hour after ordering The server came and asked if we wanted to order extra food: around 1 hour after we ordered (I asked if the burrito was correctly ordered and they said yes) 2 burritos but only 1 came after 1 hour and 30 minutes

To top it off, my burrito never came at all. It was on the order list, but they forgot to make it. I had to ask them to remove it from the order because I was so tired of waiting on the uncomfortable chair.

What frustrated me the most was that the restaurant didn't communicate any issues in the kitchen or the delay in food preparation, if they had any, or perhaps a 1-hour and 30-minute serving time was normal for them.

I understand that food can take time, but waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes for a burrito is unacceptable. I would have inquired about my order earlier if this was a normal waiting time, but it seemed like everyone who came after us was also waiting for a long time. Also, it wasn't crowded at all. It seemed like everyone who was before us had finished eating.

I'm fluent in Japanese, so there's no excuse for a language barrier.

I recently moved to Japan from Los Angeles so I never expected to find “California Style” Mexican food. There are a few Mexican restaurants you can find but none have the unique California style like Smash does. The first thing I noticed was the authentic decor of the restaurant that made me feel at home. The owner actually lived in San Diego and was inspired to bring that food culture back to Japan. Let me assure you the food and staff at Smash are all incredible. I loved the Tacos, Carne Asada Fries, Ceviche, and California Burrito! Also the Spicy Wings were surprisingly delicious with a unique coconut sauce. They have an Amazing selection of Tequila that tops any local rivals I have seen. I came with my partner so we asked if we could sit at the large table, they told us no. Well, fine, we then proceeded to sit at two single-person tables that were nearby and... we were told no again, we should both cram into a tiny table together. I can understand if the store was crowded, but there was not a single other customer in the store. At this point I told him that we are going to sit as we were or we are leaving. He then proceeded to berate us and told us that if other customers show us we have to move.

So, we made the order and he then told us that they changed the recipe for the chile con carne burrito. This should have been a red flag. Previously it was mindblowingly good, hence why we came again, but this time it was just white rice with some sprinkle of fried onion. Yeah... No thank you.

Never again. The staff attitude is bad and the food is bad. No wonder the store was...
