Sotoroku — Restaurant in Tokyo

Sotoroku is the hotel restaurant of the Hotel Blossom Hibiya. It is located on the lobby level floor, which has a great view of Shimbashi and Hibiya. The interior is nice, with big windows offering a great view. The staff is not very friendly and speak little English, which is unusual in a hotel in Tokyo nowadays. In addition, the service is pretty poor compared to other restaurants in this price range (expensive). The food, however, is very good. We tried lunch and dinner and were very happy with both. The sake sampler at dinner was nice, but the pour very stingy. Interestingly, the restaurant doesn’t even provide cotton napkins for dinner. We saw one table being offered cloth napkins, but all other tables had cheap paper napkins. This, in addition to the average quality of service, kind of took down the experience one notch. Unfortunately I had a bad experience at Sotoroku.

From beginning to end, this restaurant exhibited so many flaws that impacted my experience with them.

The staff is very rude and unfriendly - from the hosts to the waiters - the energy was heavy and they all looked sad and angry.

The worst part of it though was that I got ill from eating the food here. I ate nothing all day but breakfast here and the food in the buffet was subpar. Despite a wide selection of items - they’re all cheap and it shows: the pastries, the veggies and dried goods sold are all bad quality. Some hot items were lukewarm and I got ill from eggs that were not properly held.

Finally, you could easily find better eats in Roppingi for what you pay here: $30 per person did not make this place worthy at...

Although this restaurant is open until 10pm you need to order your food by 9.30 and we were reminded of such a couple of times as we got to the restaurant about 9.10 . We were also served a small starter that we did order and which we think was added to our bill when we came to settle our hotel bill at the end of our holiday, but we chose not to contest this.
