Foreigners - rethink twice because you wont be treated equal as the local customers here. Read on if our recent experience is relevant to you:
We arrived on time and booked (and paid) with tablecheck but they couldnt find our booking but keypoint was the way they questioned us was a bit rude and unprofessional.
The chef will split his portion in favour for locals in an odd manner. there were 4 locals vs 5 foreigners (2 of which were us). After splitting the food into 9 dishes, he would compared sizes of dishes, rearranged order and distributed larger ones to the locals. It was in an odd/obvious way. We dont mind getting the smallest piece of food but it was the attitude we found offending. We did nothing wrong whole evening. This is the main point making me write this review evem though i dont write often.
Sushi rice was warm but salty. Maybe a personal preference but it overwhelmed all other tastes. Surprised this chef got high score on tabelog because the end product is not any superior than high street shops.
Tried to find something positive to write about, if anything it was the tempora mushroom which was yummy.
Hope the owner will learn from this as he and his team has potential...
Read moreI reserved this place 10 days prior to the reservation day, and flew in a couple days before and also had to move my schedule to make the reservation on time; however, when I arrived they said let’s talk outside and took me outside to tell me that they had to cancel my reservation because I did not reply to my e-mail, and that they asked me to pay in advance but they did not receive my payment. I even received an e-mail one day before my reservation confirming the reservation (screenshot attached), which says to pay on the day of, and no additional e-mail was sent from the restaurant. I wanted to make my mom’s first omakase experience special but unfortunately, we were kicked out, and the worst part was that they did not even offer or try to re-book us, or make up for their mistake. I don’t know about the locals but for the foreigners that are trying to visit, I recommend visiting another place because your reservation might also be canceled without notice, and the staff also do not speak english so communicating is...
Read moreWithout a doubt, this was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. I travel to Japan several times a year and have dined at many of the city’s top sushi restaurants, including Arai, Sugita, Namba, Harutaka, to name a few. I’ve also discovered excellent mid-range gems like Kizaki, Rizaki, and Taichi, all offering memorable meals around the 20,000 yen mark.
Hoping to find another hidden gem, I visited Sushi Hiroya, but left thoroughly disappointed. The ingredients were noticeably subpar, the sushi pieces were oversized with an overwhelming amount of rice, and the shari itself was slightly mushy. Several pieces, including the fatty tuna and scallops, were surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor.
The service was slow and lacked warmth, and the overall atmosphere felt devoid of the passion and precision that usually define a good sushi experience. At nearly €120, it felt like money completely wasted. Unfortunately, there was nothing redeeming...
