The Zanmai franchise is well-known for its extensive marketing and decent fish quality, though the portions might leave you wanting more. However, I had a disappointing experience with the staff's attitude at one of their locations. When I took my tourist friend there, we asked for water and extra chopsticks/spoons in both Japanese and English. The girl working during that shift was reluctant to bring us water and never provided the necessary utensils despite our multiple requests. We didn't cause any trouble, so her behavior was really questionable (and I don't even think she was Japanese). I hope the store improves its staff quality...

When we asked for a table, the attendant brought us to a small corner, with a group of 6 Americans. Needless to say, it was absolutely horrible. The group was talking outrageously loudly, screaming profanities and laughing loudly, and no one did anything about it. Sushi Zanmai is the top sushi chain I recommend, especially for tourists from overseas who haven’t made a reservation at Tsukiji Sushi.
If you’re looking for an authentic experience, I’d advise against choosing chains like Sushiro or Kurazushi, as they don’t offer the genuine sushi experience.
They are targeting the lower income brackets of Japan.
