Torikei Sohonke at Haneda Airport offers a truly delightful dining experience that perfectly showcases Japanese comfort food at its finest.
The Katsudon (Fried Cutlet Bowl): The golden-brown breaded cutlets are perfectly crispy and sit atop a bed of fluffy egg and rice, accompanied by a vibrant raw egg yolk that adds richness to the dish. The Oyako Don (Chicken and Egg Bowl): The steaming bowl features tender chicken cooked with silky eggs in a savory-sweet broth. It’s hearty, satisfying, and truly captures the essence of Japanese home-style cooking. The addition of spices and pickles on the side enhances the overall taste experience. Sides and Soup: The accompanying side dishes, such as hijiki salad and pickled vegetables, offer a refreshing contrast to the main dishes. The miso soup is warm and delicate, complementing the meal perfectly. Dessert: The caramel custard dessert served in a rustic ceramic jar is a sweet finale. Its smooth texture and deep caramel flavor leave a lasting impression.
Overall, Torikei Sohonke combines top-quality ingredients with excellent execution. Whether you’re a traveler in transit or simply seeking a delicious meal, this spot is worth visiting for a comforting and authentic Japanese...
Read moreThis place has potential but I'm really sad. I ordered the signature egg & chicken dish to go. It had pretty good meat and the sauce was creamy, but I realized it didn't have the sides in the picture on the menu.
I'm extremely hungry so I wanted to not bother with it, but it was just way too sweet, I had to go back and get the sides.
I was very friendly, she was very friendly, but she told me takeout doesn't come with the sides. I told her it was too sweet, could I please have some peppers and she said no and just explained why it was sweet.
I am extremely hungry but couldn't eat it, so I went to the convenience store for some pepper sauce. It's still way too sweet but I can eat it now.
If you decide to eat here I suggest eating in the restaurant so you have some sides. Without other flavors it tastes like rice, chicken, eggs,...
Read moreDefinitely the best oyakodon I’ve ever tasted. This style of cooking is definitely tasty, with a spare egg on top for you to mix everything in. They have a very special and unique yuzu togarashi powder that goes extremely well with the oyakodon.
The skewers were amazing too, just a tad too salty which is something I can overlook given the taste.
The server had excellent serve given that she had to perform 3 roles alone, she was the cashier, the server, and the cleanup at the same time. Remembered her name was 新山. Please do give her a pay rise for that. Felt bad that I called her a few times for a refill on the tea.
Overall a great place, great...
