The food was great, and the waiter who seated us was polite. However, an unpleasant experience occurred when we made the payment, which left us with a bad impression before we left Japan.

The staff member who helped us during checkout showed a noticeable lack of patience. While I was counting my cash, he had a very unhappy and impatient expression. I tried talking to him, but he didn’t respond. Since there was another customer behind me, I politely asked if they could be checked first so I wouldn’t hold up the line. He didn’t speak or acknowledge me in any way and just started helping the other customer.

When I realized I didn’t have enough cash (I was also hesitant to continue counting because of his unpleasant expression), I asked if I could split the payment—partly with cash and partly with a card. He flatly refused, saying “No” in a very cold manner, without offering any explanation. My father asked him why, but he just repeated “No,” saying either all by cash, or all by card, without any further clarification.

It wasn’t until my father said “thank you” that the staff member finally responded with a “thanks” in Japanese, which was quite surprising given the situation.

I understand this restaurant is at an airport, and it’s common for travelers to wish to use up their coins before leaving Japan. As someone who travels internationally quite often, I’ve never encountered a situation where paying with cash and card combined was entirely refused, especially without a clear explanation. It was deeply disappointing to experience such indifferent and impolite treatment, which is not what one would expect from Japan’s renowned service standards.

First time trying the Sushi Restaurant. We came in the mid afternoon, so it wasn't busy.

Ordered by tablet, and selected the 10 piece set. My wife opted for ala cart nigiri, focused on the Kai or clams.

Both orders were promptly delivered and we both enjoyed our plates. I found the 10 piece good, but a bit generic. It seemed like precut fish ready to assemble. That said, it was fresh and tasty.

My wife's selections were very good. We especially enjoyed the mirugai (giant clam). The arcfish was also good. She also enjoyed a miso soup.

We also ordered another mirugai and their version of California Roll. Very tasty.

The server was helpful and showed us the tablet. It isn't all in English, so it was good to have the coaching.
