Dropped by Trattoria Italia in Ueno with some expectations, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite deliver. The food was okay nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave over either. For what they serve, the prices feel a bit steep. You get the sense that you’re paying more for the name and the location than for quality or creativity on the plate.
The real downside, though, was the service. We spent a lot of time just trying to get noticed. Whether it was ordering, asking for water, or getting the check, we constantly had to wave someone down. The staff wasn’t rude, just inattentive and disengaged. At a place like this, you expect a bit more hospitality or at least promptness.
The setting itself is pleasant enough nice décor, decent vibes but when the service drags and the food doesn’t impress, it’s hard to justify coming back. With so many great Italian spots around Tokyo, this one doesn’t...
Read moreCame here sunday morning, May 11th. I wish I could review the food. Showed up at opening at 1130 and got seated right away. They put us in a private room and we waited for 40 minutes. No one came to take a drink order or say hello. Eventually, I had to find the waiter to come take our order. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a salad. When the pizza came out I decidedI wanted another one because my kids were pretty hungry and they seemed to like it. The waiter, the guy with glasses, never came to check on us. My daughter drank her water at 1130 and the guy never offered a refill for an hour and a half that we were there. Eventually, we just got up and paid at the register for the food we had eaten. I’ve been in Japan a week and this is the only time i’ve had anything other than great service. Food looked good though never...
Read moreThe interior is nice and very classic. I could imagine this would be a nice spot for a date. I had a very nice waitress who was observant and always refilled my water glass when it got close to being empty. Thank you! Now to the food: I had the bruschetta with a garlic tomato topping. The bread was perfect. Im pretty sure they make the bread in house since it taste like authentic Italian bread instead of the sweeter Asian breads you often get in Asia. The tomatoes were perfectly seasoned with basil and garlic that it tasted just the way I wanted to. Nice! The ragu was good aswell. The pasta was perfectly Al dente. Don't expect a Bolognese since it tastes a bit different. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat good...
