Visited this popular gyudon chain regularly for lunch and midnight meals during my stay at hatchobori.
The place feels very homey, with staffs that greets you passionately each time you enter. The seating arrangement is quite unique, similar to that of bar stools, but there were seats for family too.
For the food, I had the negi gyudon with an additional raw egg to top it off (a must have for sure). The meat was tender, flavorful and the highlight in my opinion was the rice there, it was warm, light and had such a nice soft texture that really enhances the umami of the beef slices on each bite we take.
Occasionally, I also ordered the beef curry and it was such a comfort food. Despite ordering the mild version, it still got some heat to it and as I mentioned earlier, the rice was so good!! It plays such a good balance with the thick, rich curry that engulfs the rice with each spoonful. I can probably eat the rice with the curry on its own without the beef because its simply that good. On a short note, the beef portion is quite small here so i advise you to request for additional beef (costs around 180 yen I think).
Overall, yoshinoya is a definitely the right place to go when youโre out of idea on where to eat.
Oh funny thing, I had forgotten my phone and the staff kindly ran after me outside the store to return it. Truly a class act. Kudos to the staff at this...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is a slightly more upscale Yoshinoya than average, with individual tables as well as counter seating, and table service. Service is fast and friendly.
The food is of course normal Yoshinoya fare, which I think is pretty good, comfort food at a great price. The thing about Yoshinoya is that their standards are tasty, if nothing special, but they on occasion have specials and seasonal dishes that can be truly awesome (and still at great prices). So I think it's always worth checking out the menu as you pass to see if they have something interesting at...
ย ย ย Read moreTasted fine, price was fine, but not a very nice experience. Why were the televisions playing video of car crashes and other upsetting disasters? Why was the sound system playing promotional ads for Yoshinoya (Iโm already eating there, right?). Why donโt they accept credit cards? Why wasnโt I given an English language menu? Do they have one? I know itโs fast food, but I did not feel welcome and did not leave with a...
