CAFE&RESTAURANT THE TOYA — Restaurant in Toyako

We were staying here for 1 night and had the best time. We arrived super early on the JR train from Sapporo and asked to leave our bags while we explored but they kindly let us check in early. The restaurant at the front was buzzing with people and the food smelt amazing so after checking in we decided to eat their curry for lunch. It was super delicious. Nice range of choices and you can also choose your level of spice. The chicken curry had a smaller amount of chicken than the fried chicken but it was 'melt in your mouth'. In the evening we got the hot dog and fries which were really tasty. The sausage used for the hotdogs was massive and the bread was really delicious. They had a good variety on the menu and while they are doing a review event, the Google review is optional. This place deserves a great review as they are producing food they have clearly put love and care into, in a friendly, clean...

Food was decent. If you’re expecting variety while coming to this place, just note that they only have soup curry for mains. The soup curry here is more tomato-based, compared to other soup curries I’ve had. You can choose your spiciness levels too. We ordered the pork, pork cutlet, and fried chicken. The fried chicken was good, the pork was decent, the pork cutlet was a little dismal. Nothing special about the dish overall, but it’s decent.

Here I’ll begin with my actual review. We visited this place due to the high reviews and felt utterly scammed, probably with the other tourists that were queuing outside lol. The fried food was disappointing, scallops are not fresh and the pork cutlet was super hard to chew to the point of being rubbery.

There’s also only four 4-pax tables so you’ll have to wait for a long time with other guests that were lured in by the almost perfect review score.
