Iwakame Minato Mirai shop — Restaurant in Yokohama

Tucked away quietly on the second floor of a hotel mall, this place has a long history, according to the staff, they’ve been perfecting their unagi for over 120 years. There are two main options to choose from: Unaju and Hitsumabushi.

If you go for the Hitsumabushi, they provide clear step-by-step instructions in English, which makes the experience fun and easy to follow. The unagi is flavorful without being heavy or jelak, and every bite pairs perfectly with the rice. I personally recommend trying the Hitsumabushi for the full experience.

Their unagi rice is really goooood. Tender and soft meat with sweet and savoury sauce on top of soft white japanese rice. Everything blend so well. The shop is kinda small, but i guess thats how it goes for most Japanese restaurants. Very crowded during lunch hour.

출장 중 맛있는 장어덮밥이 인상적이었던 가게입니다. 우나쥬와 같이 나오는 국도 깊은 맛이 기억에 남았고, 히츠마부시도 함께 나오는 육수가 정말 맛있었습니다. 먹는 방법도 영어로 된 안내판이 있어 쉽게 알 수 있습니다. 찾기 쉽지 않은 곳이지만, 요코하마 미나토미라이에 온다면 가볼 만한 곳입니다:)

Nice unagi-don(rice with grilled eel) restaurant I dropped by during my business trip. I really enjoyed the flavor of "unaju" and the rich taste of special soup on the side. You may also be thrilled by "hitsumabushi", especially when you try it with the broth. You'll easily understand how to properly eat those unagi-dons since English guides are prepared. It's kind of a hidden place, but worth a try when you are planning to visit...
