Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum — Attraction in Yokohama

We went during goldenweek and arrived 9:55am before opening. But it was not as busy as we thought.

It’s a fairly small museum and although some exhibits where not in operation due to Covid measures (touching and pushing buttons), it was still an interesting exhibition. Both for us adults and for the kids.

My daughter especially enjoyed the space projection. She asked a lot of questions because the explanations are a harder to understand for kids. She can read Japanese but the explanations are too technical for kids to understand. This is a common problem with those kind of museums. Maybe a kids guide could be added in the future. They do have a really cool retro mid century modern inspired wallpaper about the history of aviation. It’s pretty and key information is added throughout in both Japanese and English. This would be a great add to the souvenir shop if not already available.

Also for some reason the souvenir shop wasn’t open which my daughter was looking forward to as she’s super into space stuff.

We spend about an hour inside and recommend a visit of you like space, submarines and energy...

More things than I thought. Visited today(11st August weekday) some kids but not lots of people. Late for an hour and can't go to the helicopter simulator...TAT but the 3D printing part is available. Real rocket engines and real muds from deep sea. Lots of experiencing devices and some basic physics. If you are preparing for your physics exams, especially the IGCSE people, you should really come and visit here. Introduction of generating electricity, electromagnetism and pulleys...etc. After all remember this is a part of the MHI company, sometimes they are, emotional. "this rocket is GREAT!"...etc. However I personally like it. You can try to find as many three-dia-ed stuff here. However they do have some NEC monitors. When I say some it means most are not.

And can somebody please tell me what is the red spot on the MRJ's head?

Bảo tàng Công nghiệp Mitsubishi Minatomirai (三菱みなとみらい技術館) là một bảo tàng công nghệ tọa lạc tại Yokohama, Nhật Bản, được thành lập vào năm 1994 bởi Tập đoàn Công nghiệp Nặng Mitsubishi. Mục tiêu của bảo tàng là giúp giới trẻ tiếp cận và hiểu biết sâu hơn về khoa học và công nghệ.

Bảo tàng được chia thành các khu vực theo chủ đề như đất liền, biển cả, không gian và tương lai, trưng bày các hiện vật như tên lửa, máy bay và tàu ngầm. Đặc biệt, khu vực không gian trưng bày động cơ tên lửa LE-7A thực tế, được sử dụng trong các tên lửa H-IIA và H-IIB.

Giờ mở cửa của bảo tàng như sau:

Ngày thường: 10:00 sáng đến 3:00 chiều (nhận khách cuối cùng lúc 2:30 chiều)

Thứ Bảy, Chủ Nhật và ngày lễ: 10:00 sáng đến 4:00 chiều (nhận khách cuối cùng lúc 3:30 chiều)

Bảo tàng đóng cửa vào các ngày thứ Ba và thứ Tư (nếu trùng ngày lễ thì mở cửa và đóng cửa vào ngày kế tiếp), cùng các ngày nghỉ cuối năm và ngày nghỉ đặc biệt.

Phí vào cửa:

Người lớn: 500 yên

Học sinh trung học cơ sở và trung học phổ thông: 300 yên

Học sinh tiểu học: 200 yên

Trẻ em dưới tuổi đi học và người từ 65 tuổi trở lên: miễn phí (cần xuất trình giấy tờ chứng minh)

Bảo tàng nằm tại địa chỉ: 3-3-1 Minatomirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Nhật Bản. Du khách có thể đến bằng cách đi bộ khoảng 3 phút từ ga Minatomirai trên tuyến Minatomirai hoặc khoảng 8 phút từ ga Sakuragicho trên tuyến JR Keihin-Tohoku/Negishi và tàu điện ngầm Yokohama.
