My friends and I come here often for a delicious feast! First, salad bar offers a large selection of vegetables for salad, some premade pasta salads, cheesy bread, soups, and other tasty small bites. But don’t fill up on the salad bar because the main course starts soon after your salad bar. The servers walk around with large skewers of meat and they will serve you what you like. Personally, my favorites are the sausage and the chicken (so flavorful)! The steak varieties are always a hit for steak-lovers. There is also pork, hearts & liver - but again - only take what you’d like and what you feel you can finish. Please save room for sweet, grilled pineapple and at dinner time, there is also grilled cheese circulating the dining area. The dining is timed, but the servers will ask you what you want for last order and will send it your way so you leave satisfied with your favorites.
The all-you-can-drink option is another highlight! There are three different drink courses. We usually get the standard that has plenty of options. Each person at your table must order the same course. All courses offer a variety from wine to beer to mixed drinks and also non-alcoholic selections.
Service is very friendly and they are very helpful if your Japanese is not good. Reservations are easy to make online. Location in Bay Quarter is very central and festive.
If you’re looking for a social, large group gathering, I highly suggest Rio Grande. It is also a nice place for small gatherings, dates, or even a family dinner with...

Title: Deeply Disappointed – Worst Dining Experience I've Had in Japan
My wife made a reservation at Rio Grande Grill to celebrate our Japanese son-in-law’s birthday. We wanted him and his mother to have a great experience with Brazilian cuisine and a good impression of Brazil. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst dining experience I’ve had in Japan.
One of my daughters had to stay late at school and would be over an hour late, while the birthday guest would be about 10 minutes late. Since we arrived early, I politely asked the manager (who turned out to be the most arrogant person I've ever encountered in customer service) if it would be a problem to enter 10 minutes late, and also informed him that my daughter might not make it due to the 90-minute time limit of the meal.
To our surprise, he answered rudely and without any tact, saying we had to enter exactly at the reserved time and that he would charge 100% for the cancellation of my daughter’s spot. We had no issue following rules, but considering the restaurant was practically empty (it was a Tuesday night), a 10-minute delay shouldn’t have mattered — and most importantly, his lack of politeness was shocking. Knowing Japanese etiquette, he could have at least said something like "moushiwake gozaimasen ga..." — instead, he just coldly said, "yoyaku kyanseru no baai, kaite aru toori, 100% seikyu shimasu." It was disappointing.
But things only got worse from there.
The food was awful. The “Brazilian salad bar” had no kale or hearts of palm. The flank steak was overcooked and tough like a shoe sole, there was no chicken heart (even though it was listed on the menu — and my kids specifically chose this place for that), the cupim was dry and flavorless, and the picanha was also dry. The only good thing was the grilled pineapple — but when we asked for more, they brought only the hard, inedible core.
To make things worse, they ended the service 30 minutes before the time limit, cutting our experience short.
Finally, at checkout, there were four people ahead of me in line. When the second person finished paying, the manager came out from behind the counter to personally thank that customer — and then immediately went back behind the register without acknowledging the rest of us. It was clear he was selectively thanking only the customers he deemed “worth it,” probably based on the security camera. That’s just plain rude and unprofessional.
This was supposed to be a celebration and a cultural experience for our family and our Japanese guests. Instead, it was an embarrassment. I rarely write reviews to complain, but I felt compelled to share this experience so that others don’t go through the same.
I do not recommend this...
Read moreThe Rio Grande Grill is located on the 3rd floor of a plaza directly North of Yokohama station at about a 5 minute walk. You can't miss it: It has a very brightly lit RIO GRANDE GRILL sign. I was surprised at the large amount of seating it had.
Rules are standard for a Brazilian Steak House: you have a red and green token at your table. When your token is green, servers with various meats will come by and slice you off a fresh piece. When your token is red, that means you don't want any food. Their choice of meat selection was great. They even had some grilled pineapple.
I thought the salad bar/dessert bar as a little small, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker. They have some standard fare side dishes, to include Japanese curry, rice, ingredients to make your own salad, french fries, etc.
What I did not know is that they had an 90 minute all you can drink option. If you choose to do so, they'll give you a card with a QR code and you can use your phone to order drinks. They come out very quickly.
I enjoyed my experience and the servers were very professional and patient with myself and my fellow gaijins. I would...
