When we first discovered this place we tried their melon pan BBQ pork buns and Portuguese tarts. They were so good that we wanted to come back and try their dim sum since we were feeling a bit homesick having spent a couple weeks in Japan already. When we actually sat down to eat the service was comically awful 😂 we asked if they had tea when she asked us what we wanted to drink and she literally slammed our menu on our table and opened it to the drink section, to which I just said in broken Mandarin “it’s fine, we’ll just have water.” They also messed up our order and the dim sum was sooo disgusting and our Cha Siu fan was cold. They had given us wet hand towels but it was kind of gross because the table was dirtied and they just left it on the table, so we asked for the packaged oshibori since other fluently mandarin speaking and japanese tables had them but they just gave us the gross wet cloths again. Would definitely recommend their melon pan bbq pork buns and po tat. Everything else stay FAR away from this place if you’re used to authentic dim sum and basic customer service (even by standard chinese...

We sat upstairs because all of the ground floor tables were full. The upstairs dining room is nice, with a view of the street below. We waited a few minute for the waitress to come over. She was polite but curt. We ordered congee, pork shumai, poached fresh greens, and a platter of roasted duck, pork ribs, and crispy pork belly. The food arrived quickly. The congee was flavorless. I went to the kitchen to get soy sauce, as there were no condiments on the table, save for little packets of hot mustard. I saw a line of soy sauce bottles on the counter in the kitchen and pointed to them. The girl in the kitchen didn’t seem to understand that I wanted one. I pointed a few more time before she picked it up. I held out my hand and she just kept looking at the bottle with a scowl on her face. She finally gave it to me without a word nor a smile. The duck was just ok, as were the ribs. The crispy pork belly was pretty good though, as...

The food is great, don’t get me wrong.

However the service was HORRIBLE. I was in a good mood before I walked in, and I’m in an absolutely horrible mood even though the food is good. 100% AVOID. I don’t even want to pay for my food because of this experience but of course, I am the bigger person and i will. But I heavily recommend going to a different place where the servers don’t have an attitude. The server had the most foul attitude even though I literally didn’t do anything. She was standing around doing nothing so I tried to get her attention to order, she instead of taking my order she went and wiped a CLEAN table. After 15 mins she walks over nonchalantly and asks me with an insanely horrible attitude if I was finally ready to order? Then she doesn’t even bring over a cup of water for another 10-15 mins and randomly brings it over, without saying anything, slides it onto my table,...

The food was SO BAD! We ordered my favourite dish which is the Cheung Fun in Chinese but they called it Ebi Crepe… haha I honestly cried inside when I saw it but still needed to try this bad boy. Firstly it’s quite expensive for what it is, they’ve cut it smaller than what you usually get in Yum Cha places and you still pay double what they usually charge. I tasted it and honestly I’d rather trip and eat the floor than have it again. I couldn’t taste the prawn as it was so small and the outside parts were so over cooked it just fell apart. The sauce was good! That’s the only good comment about it. Really dissatisfied with it. The staff were also so cold and really not welcoming. Wouldn’t recommend it. Go somewhere else on the road.

I pity most dim sum restaurants as they are in a no-win situation. They are all compared to the gold standards in far away lands (aka HK). To be fair, most of them are decent but they are just rarely good enough. ;) In this case, this restaurant is supposed to be a branch of a HK restaurant and it is not bad. Most of the dishes are recognisable. No fanciful reimagining here, tyvm. There is one exception. The egg tarts are actually Portuguese tarts. On the whole, the dishes are more than acceptable. Tasty and well made. Service is functional. Orders are taken promptly and dishes are served just as briskly and without ceremony. The ambiance is similarly old school. Booths and tables. Designed for maximum occupancy and easy cleaning.
