Tohokjinka — Restaurant in Yokohama

As a Singaporean citizen, my family members travel to Japan at least 1-2 times a year. We have been to many places, seen many beautiful sights, and enjoyed many delicious foods. Japan is a very safe country, and it pays special attention to food safety. But this travel experience made me very worried.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and grave concern regarding a recent dining experience at the Poisoning Tohoku Jinka Chinatown Yokohama NEW SHOP (151-3 Yamashitacho,Naka Ward,Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0023 JAPAN), which has left both my son and me suffering from severe food poisoning for the past 3 days.

On 12 Dec 2023, we visited your country with high expectations of enjoying the local cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience at Tohoku Jinka Chinatown Yokohama NEW SHOP has been nothing short of a nightmare. The food served to us has resulted in severe gastrointestinal distress, including persistent diarrhea and stomach cramps, causing significant disruption to our travel plans and causing immense discomfort.

This appalling incident raises serious questions about the restaurant's adherence to basic hygiene and safety standards. I find it unacceptable that an establishment catering to tourists would compromise the well-being of its patrons in such a flagrant manner.

I am deeply disappointed and alarmed by the lack of concern for the health and safety of customers at Tohoku Jinka Chinatown Yokohama NEW SHOP. As a representative of the Japan National Tourism Organization, I implore you to investigate this matter urgently and take decisive action to rectify the situation.

I believe it is crucial to ensure that all restaurants operating in Yokohama, particularly those serving tourists, adhere to the highest standards of food safety. I expect the Japan National Tourism Organization to hold establishments accountable for lapses in hygiene and take immediate measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

In addition to seeking appropriate action against the restaurant, I request information on the steps the Japan National Tourism Organization is taking to monitor and enforce food safety standards at dining establishments in Yokohama. Tourists should be able to trust that the places recommended for dining are safe and will not jeopardize their health.

I trust that you will treat this matter with the urgency it demands and keep us informed about the actions taken. Failure to address this issue adequately could have severe repercussions on Yokohama's reputation as a tourist-friendly...

7月最後の日曜日ランチは、以前テレビで紹介されたこのお店に恐る恐るお伺いしました。中華街で働くシェフ達が夜な夜な通っているお店紹介番組で、しっかり行きたいマークつけていたので。東北料理です。

東北は遼寧省・吉林省・黒竜江省の東北三省（旧称：東三省）の総称。中華人民共和国における地域をブロックに分けた区分では「東北区」と呼んでいるとのこと。

キーワードは

1.食材を長持ちさせるために、発酵させたり香辛料を多く使う 2.モンゴルが近いため、羊肉がポピュラー 3.こってりした濃い味付け 4.ディープな珍味

まさに私好みじゃないですか。って

12時近くに中華街について恐る恐るってのは、前回ゴールデンウィーク時に行った際、人の大渋滞で失敗したので。今回はというと、所謂「ガラガラ」でした。 多分夏休みが始まって帰省されている人が多いからかと。中華街に帰省する人は殆どいないでしょうし。

普段はかなり並ぶお店らしいですが、席は2割くらいしか埋まっていないのでラッキー。

メニューと睨めっこして

①牛内のマーラー銅鍋 ②故郷味干し豆腐と青唐辛子の炒め ③東北人家焼きそば ④ラム肉のジャンボ蒸し餃子 ⑤ラム肉串

を頂くことに。休日昼間は殆どアルコールは口にしないのですが、このメニューだと 飲まざるを得ないってことで、私はハイボール、妻は生ビールを頂きました。 最近移動は公共交通機関が多く、車運転ではないので、いつでも飲めます。　　(笑) 見渡すとお客さん皆飲んでいるじゃありませんか。頼んでよかったです。

故郷味干し豆腐と青唐辛子の炒めから運ばれてきました。さっぱりとした塩味。なんですが～　青唐辛子が効いていて辛い。私は大丈夫ですが、隣のお客さん、同じものを頼んで、大咽せしています。目に涙。 干し豆腐の食感が凄くいい。例えるならば、食べられる輪ゴム的な。（そんなものないですよね）

続いて牛内のマーラー銅鍋が到着。本当は羊が食べたかったのですが、見落としていて。でも、注文後だったので、あきらめたのですが、これが美味しい。正肉がはいっていないのです。全て内臓肉。

内臓博士でないので、分かったのはセンマイくらい。後は分かりませんが、よく煮込まれているのか、油っぽくなく、柔らかでスラスラ食べられちゃいます。これも大量な唐辛子が入っていますが、見た目ほどでもなく、よく出汁のでたスープと共にバランスがいい。

ラム肉串はスパイスで肉が見えないくらいかかっていて、ビールのあてに最高です。 ラム肉のジャンボ蒸し餃子はまぁ普通。

東北人家焼きそばは太麺でモチモチ。スパイシーながら辛くもなく、妻が殆ど食べてしまいました。 半年ぶりくらいに昼飲みしハイボールもお代わりしてしまい、ほろ酔いで満足満足。

最近、東北エリアの料理が流行り始めているようです。三軒茶屋にも出来て時々行く店になっています。四川より、発酵とかひと手間かかっているのでより美味しい気がします。シェフ達が夜な夜な通うのも分かりますね。

I found this place kind of by accident: the place I was headed to was closed, but this was open. Wait staff were very friendly and sat me almost immediately. The lunch special came with entree, rice, soup, pickles and a coconut jelly dessert, for 770 yen after tax. I don't read Japanese well but I had a sweet, sour and spicy chicken dish with peanuts, and it was delicious. Next time I'll have to try the...
